Worst

While the food, except for the overly dry branzino and the warm martinis, was fine, we were seated in the corner of an oven-like dining area in the middle of the restaurant.

Great restaurant near Lincoln Center 10/27/2011

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. However, the prices are a bit high. I recommend the seafood/raw bar. more

Horrible thin crust pizza! 9/9/2008

I went here last night to meet up a friend I havn't seen in years. I've walked by this place several times and it looked like a fun place to check out. The waitress was so-so, the tables were so squeezed together you cant even get through. We never got a basket of bread throughout the entire meal. My friend ordered some fish dish which he liked but thought was too overpowered with tomatoes. I ordered one of their ""famous"" thin-crust pizza's....which was absolutely horrible.....and expensive too. If I'm paying 25 dollars for a pizza I at least expect it to taste good. To top it off, I asked them to pack the remainder of the pizza for me to take home and instead of wrapping it in foil, they folded the entire thing up and stuffed it in a little plastic container....I opened it to have for lunch and it was totally soggy and gross. Maybe some of the other dishes are better, but I think the entire menu is WAY overpriced. Save your money and go somewhere else! Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Very expensive, horrible thin crust pizza more

Great Place! 7/30/2008

I went there yesterday because they were one of he 2 Italian places featured on the upper west side for restaurant week. The hostess wasn't very friendly but that is about the only con. The waitress was great! My friend showed up 30mins after i had been seated and the waitress didnt seem to be up set. We ordered our food and it was really really good. *LEMON CHICKEN* We sat outside and it was a great evening. I will most def be going back again!!!! Pros: Waitress, Lemon Chicken Cons: Hostess was not the nicest more

Delicious open-faced lasagna but VERY crowded and ridiculously over-priced 6/29/2008

My husband and I dined at Fiorello last Friday night. We had a 6pm reservation and when we arrived, the place was packed--unusual at that hour for New York. It was absolutely a pre-theater crowd--we're in our late 20s and we were the youngest people there by an average of 20 years. It felt strangely like a Carmine's or other Times Square tourist hangout--the priority was turning over the tables, and once she took our order, our waitress disappeared until we stopped her to ask for the check. It is extremely crowded--so much so that squeezing between our table and the next to use the ladies' room got me uncomfortably close to our neighbors. The food was so-so--I LOVED my open-faced lasagna but my husband wasn't crazy about his pizza. It was the thinnest-crust pizza I've ever seen, so not everyone's style. The food is also very expensive--the appetizer/antipasto bar sounds intriguing but for $18 I got 3 spears of asparagus, a tiny slice of quiche, and two slices of roasted peppers. Outrageous! Even the simple pasta dishes were in the $20s....So, I'm glad we went to cross it off our list but I doubt we'll be back. more

not sure it's worth the price 6/12/2008

The food is reasonably good (check out especially the appetizer bar), but the place is pretentious to the point of obnoxiousness. Yes, you do get to seat and watch people going to Lincoln Center, but the price you pay for it is pretty stiff. Better deals nearby. more

Veal Scallapini Parmagiana is excellent. Shrimp and Scallop appetizer is fresh, prepared with a little bite 5/4/2008

We had a 6:00pm reservation on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The service was superb. The Martini was well prepared and cold. I had the Shrimp and Scallop appetizer which was nicely presented, very fresh and had a slight bite. Just excellent. The Veal Scallopini Parmagiana entre' was fantastic. The coffee was robust and the Lemon tart a real treat especially with the fresh whipped cream. About $60 without tip. Pros: Fresh excellent well prepared dinners Cons: Tight eating spaces, very crowded, noisy. Corner table a plus! more

One of the best before a Lincoln Center show 8/12/2007

This Italian restaurant/sidewalk-cafe is right accross from Lincoln Center and for that reason you can bet it will be packed on evenings before a show. However if you're lucky enough to grab a table you'll be treated to very good service and very good food at a very good location for a price that takes all of that into consideration. The ultrathin-crust pizza they serve here makes an excellent appetizer. Pavarotti reputedly has a table here and I wouldn't doubt it. Pros: Ultrathin-crust pizza, location, service more

GREAT FOOD BAD MANAGEMENT! 7/21/2006

I am quite upset. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at on the UWS untill a friend of mine showed me an article in the NY Times about the management taking a % of the waiters' Tips!!!! Still, I will probably go for a Brunch here or there. (it's Fantastic!) But I just don't feel the same about the restaurant after reading that article. Everyone has always been most hospitable. Service can be a bit slow when the restaurant fills up but the food and atmosphere is worth it. Try the Pizza! Pros: Great Food! Cons: Can be quite packed, managers steal waiter's tips more

Will go back again 4/20/2006

I would recommend this place because the food was great. It was pretty crowded but the waiter provided great service. I sat outside so I didn't get the dining experience inside...but I would definately recommend this to anyone that wants to eat good italian food. It was nice because outside there was a mix of people from corporate to more casual mix making it very nice and confortable. Will go back for sure! more

I've been to Fiorellos several times and the seafood/vegetable bar is definitely the way to go. Go a little early for dinner and you'll usually find a spot at the bar. The service is excellent, waiters very nice, food is wonderful and there is usually great conversation to strike up with the stranger next to you. My sister and I went this weekend and although she is not easy to please gastronomically, she loved it too. Sitting in the dining room is more expensive and a totally different experience - not at all my preference. more

BRUNCH! 10/29/2005

This is one of my favorite brunch restaurants. The pizza, although pricey, is absolutely delicious! The UWS isn't necessarily my favorite place to dine, but this is definitely worthe the trip! more

never again for sure 8/4/2005

We were there before the rush. Not a lot of patrons, just plenty of waiters. Coffee delivered too late. We had to find ""anyone"" to give us a bread basket, which was supposedly included in meal. We had to find a waiter for the check. Just across from Lincoln Center. Come on people. You could do much better. Pros: ambience Cons: service more

Y-U-M-M-Y 5/8/2005

Went here for mother's day dinner, was seated promptly with a 6:30 reservation. Waiter was wonderful and very helpful in helping us decide. Fried artichokes were amazing, so was the chocolate mouse desert, they are definitly not skimpy in that area. One of the best meals i've head uptown. Pros: food, service more

A pleasant surprise 12/8/2004

Found on a trip to Lincoln Center. Absolutely LOVED it. it was rather crowded for a saturday brunch and my table was a BIT too close to the table next to me. BUT! the food was an absolute treat. I had a seafood linguine and my friend had salmon over spinach. Both of us are quite critical of food- but it was absolutely wonderful. The mussels were free of sand (that almost never happens) and the spinach was fresh and sauteed just right. And, not to mention, we sat at the booth specifically reserved for Pavarotti. Service could have been better, but it was a crowded day so I'll forgive them. Pros: seafood! more

Like Bad Service? This place is for you! 11/21/2004

My girlfreind and I were looking for a nice place to grab a bite when we came across Cafe Fiorello. Our waiter showed up and took our drink order and appetizer order. Our waiter seemed more interested in walking the isles ignoring us than see if we needed anything else. I called him over and asked if the food and wine were going to take much longer? He replied that our wine was being delivered from downstairs and our food was almost ready. An eternity later our food was hastily delivered. If the food were good perhaps there would be some sort of redeeming quality, no luck. Bland, devoid of any semblance of creativity yet expensive. We asked for the check and our lackluster waiter realizing we were not happy decided to condescendingly wish us a ""wonderful"" evening. I wouldn't stop in this restaurant again to use the restroom. Pros: Not Poisoned., Wasn't lit on fire., Great Coat Check! Cons: , Bad Service, Expensive more

Thank You Fiorello's. 11/7/2004

I was beginning to believe that all hosts and waiters were becoming robots until I dined with Fiorello's. Our party was greeted with smiles and personality. Our coats were checked immediately and we were sat in the middle of the main dining room. The service was above and beyond anything that I've seen in a long time. Not only was the waiter very professional but he was also having a great time with us. I personally never see that anymore. The food was unoriginal and a little bland, but I didn't let it ruin my night. Pros: Service, Good Parking, Personable Staff Cons: , Crowded more

Good Food, Bad Service 11/30/2003

When I first entered, the host ignored me for roughly five minutes while he organized his reservation book even though I had a reservation. The waiter was rude and had an attitude. Upon leaving, when I asked the host where I could get my coat that I checked, he instructed me to walk through the entire restaurant to back near the restrooms where the coat check man has lounging. All the other customers had their coats brought to them. more

  • Cafe Fiorello is an institution across the street from Lincoln Center, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends. Fiorello's is a great spot for pre-theater dining. Open late each night, the restaurant is also perfect for a post-theater dinner, a light bite at the antipasto bar, or cocktails and dessert.
