This place is a total institution (not to mention a total gold mine). It could be crowded just about any time of day, and in winter it can be a miserable wait since there's not much room to wait inside. They serve breakfast all day, and they have a big chalkboard with all the daily specials (they have quite a selection of comfort foods like homemade macaroni and cheese and meatloaf). The children's menu is pretty good, and of course it's a good place to bring the kids. The tables are very crowded together, and the staff is always rushing around, but somehow that just adds to the experience. Their ice cream menu and variety of sundaes is huge. The frappes/milkshakes and floats are really good. The sundaes are generally huge. Nothing better on a summer evening than fries and shake at Cabots!
