Cabaret Tehran 1/2/2011

My first experience with Carbaret Tehran was 20-25 years ago. I am American in love with everything Iranian/Persian. I remember great entertainment with Homeira, Satar, and a chubby comedian. The food was below average taste because I had a Turkish/Iranian mother in law who knew how to cook. So that is how I gauge food.. The prices more than what we , as a young couple could actually afford, and an argument with both waitress and mgmt. at the end of the night ruined what good feelings we had of the whole evening. I am not one to lie. If you can't afford a few hundred dollars for a meal and concert for a couple don't go there. I have be remarried now for 9 years. My younger-than-me husband recently went there alone, due to working temporarily in LA area. He said the staff was very respectful, and he said he paid a fair price-but realize my hubby can drop a dime and not consider it being expensive, where I count every dime and then some. The bottom line is, if you want nice entertainment, aren't going just for the food, can afford to spend, then you shouldn't mind. They do charge for imaginary drinks! That's why you either bring in your own alcohol or know what you drank. My hubby wants to take me back there. After my first time years ago, I could care less, but if he wants to have a good time, at least we can afford it nowadays. more

coolest spot in town 6/25/2010

i went to this place with my family who lived in North en California on a Friday night...staff was very respectful and i loved the show they had on,which included the most famous Persian singer i know and the hottest belly dancers i had seen in a long time..i can not believe the negative comments i read, because non of it is true..the place has been in the business for over 30 years while all the other cabarets have only lasted for a year or two..i know for a fact that this cant be done unless you provide the best with the lowest prices to your clients..where in the world you pay a cover charge that includes everything, specially alcoholic drinks? i would like to thank the owner of the place for taking so much nonsense from certain ungrateful people and still supporting them and providing them with such wonderful and entertaining shows..my mom also says thanks you guys Pros: awsomn service..great prices...loved the food Cons: non that i could think of..... more

Cabaret Tehran or cabaret rip off?? 3/21/2010

Cabaret Tehran or Cabaret Rip off?? That is a rip off place and they should be out of business. They charge $65.00 at the door for each person which you assume that would be the cover charge for dinner and entertainment unless you have alcoholic drinks. The waitress asks you if they should bring the appetizers and a drink. You assume you already paid for these. She never tells you that these are separate charges. Even non alcoholic drinks. They end up bring you another bill at the end. So if you have a simple dinner with no alcoholic drinks it would cost you $200 minimum for two people. If you have alcoholic drinks, the cost would sky rock. The worst part is that they don't even tell you about about these separate charges in advance and surprise you with a big bill. They are very tricky and just want to rip you off. I have heard the same complain from a lot of people. My close friend went over there and paid $500 for a party of 4 people. I would never step in that place again and they need to shot it down. The management Ahmad Massod has to be ashamed of ripping hard working people off. Stay away from that place. No wonder this place keeps getting bad reviews in all the websites. I decided to put this review here so other people would not get ripped off. The one that left a good review is one of their own people, otherwise no one would leave a good review for that place. By the way the food is terrible. Pros: You would get ripped off. Cons: Worst place ever. more

WORST SERVICE, THIEVES! 2/28/2009

We decided to try some middle eastern food. These people are thieves. They state one price and charge another. The food is not good. The waiters are SO rude. The drinks are watered down and everything is extra, but they only tell you that once you get the bill. They overcharge and pretend it was an honest mistake. They only have a few waiters for the whole restaurant. The food is cold and you might be lucky to see your waiter twice. We didn't want to leave 15% tip because the waiter didn't deserve it. She made such a scene. There was a hair in my son's food and she said it was his, even though my son has blonde hair! She was very accusatory in her tone. We walked out and left a penny as a tip. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! Pros: The music was interesting Cons: Too much to write.............. more

Horrible Restaurant 2/28/2009

This has got to be one of the worst con games in town. They will fill up the restaurant to twice the maximum capacity with no elbow room on some nights, which is clearly in violation of health and safety laws. The waiters are extremely RUDE. The management is even worse. They will tell you that dinner and show is included, but when you ask for the bill you end up paying 100%more. They do not disclose that softdrinks and appetizers are extra. They overcharge and when you catch them they brush it off an tell you it was a mistake without an apology. They have 3 to 4 waiters serving two hundred people. If you don't leave 20% tip for the awful waiters they will chase you down and make a deliberate scene. The food is below average and it is always undercooked. The menu is limited to 3 to 4 dishes and you don't even see it. They will tell you what they have. The alcoholic drinks are not what the bottles say they are and they are all waterrun. I do not recommend it at all. One of the worst overall restaurants in Los Angeles. more

Very entertaining show. We had fun! 9/30/2008

We went as a group and overall had a good time. The food and the prices were reasonable. We really enjoyed seeing a legend (Mrs. Humaira was singing) for such a cheap and affordable price. The rest of the show was great too. Floor dance was really nice. I highly recommend it. I have gone to this place more than once and still desire to go back. My mother who was visiting from Iran had the best time ever seeing Humaira. Other performers were great too. It was memorable time for our group, and we were quite diverse in age and nationality (Iranian, American both white and black and Mexican ages 25 to 78!). Go figure, we had fun, or maybe it was our attitude? I doubt it, it was nice. Go see for yourself and write a review, I'd be interested in seeing what you say about your experience! Pros: Show, parking, dance floor, reasonablly priced. Cons: The place is getting old, maybe a slight renovation, but keep the prices same. more

inferior thieves ........ 9/10/2008

we went to the cabaret tehran for some reminisence of years gone by. They charged us 75 dollars each which they stated comes with food. No menues when asked for menues they brought a piece of paper with no prices. they charged us for drinks we did not have. with the ticket price we did not get any sodas or water . they charged us for our water. they charged 150 dollars for a small bottle of johhny walker red label. even though we only had a bottle they charged us for two. then argued for it and charged tip. service sucked. management were a--hole. they totally ruined our night. the singer was excellent she only sings there once a year. horrible establishment. food tasted old. do not go awful. awful awful Pros: nothing Cons: food service prices management more

BE CAREFUL 7/31/2008

I completely admit what citylover2 said above. it happened to me exactly as he said. on the phone they told me dinner+music show=$45. when we went there they started asking what you want to drink for dinner, what do you like for premier plate and so on. they DIDN"T have written menu and the waiter didn't say what is included in dinner and what is not. our assumption was that drink(we ordered water and Coke) is part of dinner, but we found later that this is not part of dinner!!! so they brought a bill of $35. I discussed with waiter that this is not fair that you pretend that it is included in the fee that we paid and later decline that it is part of dinner. I paid extra $35, while I was sad about their dishonesty and waiter told me you should pay 15% more as my tip. I frankly said I will not pay that and I am not happy with your service since you are not honest. when I was leaving with my car in the downstairs parking, I saw that security guy looking for someone, maybe they wanted to ask me to pay their tip but it was late since I was leaving. :-) anyway, IF YOU WANT TO GO THERE, BEFORE ORDERING ANYTHING ,BE SURE THAT EVERY PRICE AND FEE IS CLEAR FOR YOU, OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE A BAD NIGHT. Pros: music and famous Iranian singers Cons: dishonesty, cheating, pedar sookhtah bazi more

Drinks, Diner and great show 7/27/2008

Was there last weekend WOW what a show great pricing food service THE BEST PERSIAN CLUB. A LANDMARK FOR OUR COMMUNITY. GOD BLESS THE STAFF AND THE OWNER TO BE IN BUSINESS IN LOS ANGELES FOR 30 YEARS. HAD THE BEST TIME THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS SIMPLY THE BEST :) If $75 is for dinner and 4 hours show with dancers, comedian, and first class persian singers if that is much for you then you should not be going there. You want free drinks too??? it comes out 100 per person. where can you send 4 hours seeing live perfomance with legends for that price??? Concerts are $100 for just sitiing on a wooden chair and they charge you $18 for a beer. Cabaret Tehran is like disneyland for any iranian who comes to los angeles. I go there each time I am in LA and thank god we have this place. Pros: parking, ambience, food and show more

Best food and Entertainment 6/7/2008

The food was delicious, service was great and the entertainment was wonderful. We had a great time. more

Horrible Service, Shameless Waiters and Management - They only want your $$$$$ 4/6/2008

Be Aware - this place has not written menu or pricing!!! When you go there they will charge you for a glass of water and you wont even know. If you don't leave a tip of atleast 20% they will chase you down the escalator and ask you why. We went here to have dinner- the food was less than average- the portions were small and they charge you extra if you order kababs. So if you want beef and chicken kabab there is a hidden $15 charge per person. you won't know this because you won't get a written menu. Study the Persian food chart before you go. Our waiter was rude and did not even apologize when he go our order wrong and on top of it charged us all $15pp. Wow, no wonder the restaurant had only couple of tables with people. OH, the sad part of it is that we spend a lot of money and there lack of customer service. The management is rude!!! If they don't like your tipping they will chase you down the escalator and ask you why they were not tipped more!!!! Sad Sad Place to go.... I will never recomend their food or service to anyone..... Pros: Nothing Cons: The Staff and Management!!! more
