Overpriced with bad service 9/6/2011

I went here last week for a family birthday party, so we had a larger party. The server hardly paid attention to us the entire time we were there! It took a full 15 minutes just to get drinks then he left and didn't even take our order! When we did finally get to order we didn't see our food for another hour. The food was super expensive and luke warm by the time we got it. I got yellowtale entree and it litrally tasted like burnt wood. Awful! I had to ask for refills on my drink because he would offer it to only one or two people out of our party at a time, and the server completely ignored one of the people in our party. (he didn't ask him if he wanted dinner or a drink!) Go somewhere cheaper with better quality. more

Couldn't ask for anything more! 3/11/2011

Service terrible, food average and warm at best...not the first time apparently, Shenanigans indeed!!!!!! 5/16/2008

To be very honest the reviews above are indicative of the lack of restaurants in the Tacoma area. The people that have written them have either no pallet or work for the restaurant. Pros: Ambience and view Cons: Everything else more

Best Brunch yet! 5/5/2008

My family and I love getting together for special occasions over brunch, and this time we were blown away. It has been quite a while since we have dined at CI's..which we had in our minds as comparable to Anthony's or Salty's but dated and a little distressed. Boy, were we in for a pleasant surprise. Not only were we able to get reservations within an hour on OpenTable, they easily accomodated our request for a high chair. The restaurant has had a remodel in the recent years and sparkles with technology and comfortable elegance. The buffet spread was beautiful, well maintained, themed and plentiful! The server- full of information, polite and always had our drinks refilled (rarely seen done so well when the refills are FREE...Im talking champagne here people!) Every kitchen staff manning the buffet was as polite and outgoing as the front of house. Manager was on the floor, easy to be seen and congenial. She definitely had a smooth running ship. The food...oh my, the food. AMAZING. Themed Carribbean food, fresh shucked oysters, and crepes were just a few of our favorites. You know when you go to a buffet, fill your plate and eat half because it isnt always what you had expected? Not here. Not a bite goes to waste with this food! And to top it off, when the bill came we were shocked!.....at how little we paid. $21.99 for adults and 9.99 for kids....that included all non-alcohol beverages, all refillable and an amazing $2 champagne/mimosa with free refills. We were so thrilled at this newly shined diamond in the rough. I cant wait to try out dinner again sometime too! We enjoyed the Lobster Shop a few weeks back, but Shenanigans is above and beyond! Pros: Must try the Creme Brulee! Everything is beyond exceptional Cons: None. Sunday perfection! more

Great view, great food, great service 5/22/2006

I recently ate a wonderful dinner here in a party of six. With two bottles of wine, three appetizers, six entrees, four desserts, and a tip, the total came to just over $325. $55 per person for a great dinner at a restaurant with a beautiful view and attentive, helpful service is a splurge, for sure, but you get your money's worth. Though there aren't many vegetarian items on the menu, they will offer options if asked. The wines were great and went perfectly with the food. Steaks were excellent, and fish dishes had great, creative flavors. Everything was excellent, and I'll be back for special occasions in the future. Pros: Fantastic view, Great food, Excellent service more

A great view does not make a restaurant great! 5/1/2006

Party of 6 drinks/food approx $60.00+ per person 6/6 first time patrons. Praise: Excellent wines & selections. steak was delicious, Waitress was very nice & helpful with selections, View. Complaints: Way Overpriced, Fish was bland, vegetables either overcooked or undercooked. Food lacks quality, wine was very expensive, many wine selections were unavailable, Mediocre service had to repeat requests for forgotten items. Patrons at bar were so noisy, we had to yell when we talked amongst our group. We were given a booth for 4ppl and an extra table with 2 chairs, it was hard to enter or exit our booth. Of our group 6/6 felt restaurant is overpriced and food quality should be much better. 6/6 said if they were paying for dinner they would go somewhere else. 15% mandatory tip was added to our bill. Pros: view, wine selections, steaks Cons: overpriced, food quality, noisy more

Expensive and poor food 5/26/2005

We had a party of 11 people the service was adequate. The prices were overly expensive for the quality of food. The fried oysters were inferior as was most of the food. The total bill including tip was over 500 dollars. This was seven adults and four children. I definetely would not recommend this restuarant for the food quality and the prices. Pros: water view, good parking Cons: food quality, prices, excessively expensive more

Starters Rule 3/21/2003

Appetizers and desserts are stellar here. My lobster tail was delicious, every succulent bit -- but outrageously priced. Server recommended, perfectly matched wine was a winner. Interior and exterior views superb. Was an expensive treat, as lunch ran $180 with wine, tax, and tip for 3. Pros: appetizers, Sound views, interior Cons: young hostess, expensive more
