Sal's Pizza

Forget about it. Best NY style pizza in the world. Usually a line, grumpy counter men, seating is basic and limited. All part of the "charm." Mysterious family and employees walk out from the back kitchen with fresh meatballs, sausage, etc. But it's all about the pizza. A slice of Sal's will do you right. Big time. more

I have lived all around the New York area, Nassau,Suffolk,Westchester Manhattan and also Connecticut for most of my life. I have sampled pizza from most of the places people claim to be the best. Well as a former pizza maker I can only tell you that this pizza is overrated. It"s loved by the locals. Decent pizza, but not the best by far. By the way, the service is terrible at Sal"s. They act like they are doing you a favor by serving you at the counter. You can go up the street to Joe"s and get a slice just as good and you don"t have to wait on a ridiculous line( try the lasagna slice, its very good). You can also get good pizza at Village Pizza and Pasta across from the Mamaroneck High School and Pizza Gourmet on the Post Road by North Barry Ave. I do have some nice things to say about Sal"s, the gelato that is in the next room over from the pizzeria is very good. I go there with my daughter just so we can get some gelato after we have pizza, she absolutely loves it. more

I live near Port Chester which is largely Latino now but was mostly Italian not that long ago. When I moved here I was looking forward to great pizza but I've been sorely disappointed. I never had a really good pizza here so I was excited when I read all of the raves about Sal's in Mamaroneck. I've gone a couple of times with my son. There's always a line. The neapolitan slice is good but I think it elicits such rants because most others in Westchester are pretty poor. Most people have great things to say about the chicken parmigiana but I've yet to try it. This is a pretty good place to combine with a movie at the theater across the street. more

I'll put Sal's up against any pie out there: Sally's or Pepe's in New Haven are no better. Get a salad slice, a regular, and a sicilian. Forget about it this place rocks, you have to try it, I go here almost everyday, food is great and people that wortk there are so guido it's hilarious, i love it, try a slice next time you're in town, you'll me hooked. more

Whenever I am craving really good pizza, Sal's is the place to go. The pizza is absolutely delicous - the quality of the ingredients is top-notch. The sicilian pizza is really the best, but their regular pizza is great also. My whole family really looks forward to visits to Sals. Thick and delicious. Highly recommended. more

That pretty much says it all. This Pizza shop is the best. I could eat there every day. Good Price, Good Pizza and a couple beer selections make this a must see. more
