I've used UMC a number of times and seen more people there than I would have wished. The nursing care is excellent, very compassionate and trustworthy. The physicians are pretty good, it just depends on who you get which changes frequently since it is a teaching hospital. The cardiology department is at the top of the U.S. with a number of innovators like Dr. Copeland and current chief of staff Dr. Kern. What I dislike is the lack of integration of the health care system. One area has one type of computer system while another area has a different one and none of these communicate with the radiology or pharmacy or any other service. The lack of computerized records has been shown in numerous national surveys to prevent or minimize errors and I'm not sure what the poor implementation means about UMC.
