Le Gateau Elegant

I also came in hoping to spend an outrageous amount of money on a party cake. I lived in France and I know pastries. (Le Gâteau is so overpriced.) I was also rudely told that they only had tastings for wedding cakes. I suggest they change that policy and hire a new counter staff. I have not returned since. I just placed an order for a huge whipped cream (which was real. They graciously offered a taste!!) and custard cake at Alpine bakery. Their ingredients are high quality and so is their staff. They could not have been kinder nor the costs more reasonable. They are my new bakery. more

I have tasted their cakes and they are good however nothing compares to the bakeries in New York. My major problem with them is the demeanors of some staff...there is a very rude ill mannered person who works there and because of that I would never go back...some people just don't need to be working with the public. The cake is not that good that I will miss it and never find another place just as good. All I wanted was to do a cake tasting for a birthday party of 100 people and the woman rudely said it was only for weddings...if I am to spend several hundred dollars on a cake I want to kmnow what it would taste like. they do it for 100 people weddings why not this special occasion...to bad they lost my business for how rudely she spoke and handled the matter...very very rude woman. more

Le Gateau Elegant is a great little bakery located in the shopping area in downtown Martinez. They have limited parking on the streets which have meters. They have an elegant storefront display showing off the artistic talents of the baker. We ordered our wedding cake from this place and they delivered it to our reception. I was very happy with the design and the cake was delicious. more
