A unique experience 12/31/2005

Plan to spend the better part of a whole day at this wonderful aquarium/museum. You will learn all about the aquatic life around the Chesapeake Bay. There is also an outside walking trail that leads to another part of the museum. The Imax theater is a definite must do also. Children and adults will be fascinated. "Petting" the rays is one of the best things to do for all ages. more

Great Exhibits 11/19/2005

The Virginia Marine Science Museum is actually located in 2 separte buildings that you can walk through a swamp area through trails to get to or drive to the other building. They have an IMAX theater also. The main building has most of the animal exhibits with the large tanks. There are also many places to sit and watch the fish for as long as you want. They have a lot of reach in tanks where you can feel the sea life. This is a great place to take kids. The second building has otters that are fed on a schedule so ou can plan to see them feeding. more

A great Place!! 10/14/2005

This is a great place to take the kids while they’re still in the “I love to learn about nature” phase. It’s a popular destination for field trips, and the sting ray petting tank is always a hit. The museum loses some of its charm as you grow older, but that doesn’t mean that a group of friends won’t have a good time. It’s not a happening hangout spot, but if you’re looking to add something different to your outings, the Marine Science Museum may be just what your afternoon is looking for! more

fun for the famiy 9/13/2005

Va beach aquariun and marine center has so much to see and do, lots of fish to see, and even touch, there are hands on exhibits that the kids enjoy. There are other animals too. A great way to get out of the heat is to visit the I max theater Thye show great films and they are educational and the kids love them. Our family visits each year and the kids also go with their school as a field trip. more

Lots of fish 8/19/2005

This is an excellent aquarium. ranked only 2nd to the National aquarium in Baltimore. You can drive by and see the seals playing in the water at the front doors. The aquarium also has an IMAX movie theatre to watch movies on a huge larger than life screen. Many nature animals are also housed at this aquarium. more

Fun for the easily amused 8/16/2005

This museum is priced very fairly, I think they have a special for group rates so go with a large group ,it is more fun that way so you and your friends can be amused together. This place is very good for kids because they would like to see all the cool animals and be amazed more so than someone older. The place has actually expanded so there is definitely more to do. I would recommend it as something to do to get out of the sun here in Virginia Beach. more

Virginia Beach Aquarium and Marine Science Center 8/15/2005

The Virginia Beach Aquarium and Marine Science Center is located on General Booth Blvd. We've never had to pay to go in because we know someone who's a member, so I don't know how much it is for admission. The place itself I thought was fairly small. It did however, have enough activities to keep the kids busy. The kids enjoyed touching everything that they were allowed to have a hands-on experience with. One of the kids we were with liked the starfish so much that she wanted to keep it. The employees are very knowledgeable of the animals and were able to answer our little one's questions without being technical about it. If you have the time, and if you love, which I do, you must go on one of their boat trips. You might want to call in advance to see when they offer this. The trip itself is about an hour and a half and is a great way to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. more

Wonderful aquarium, great for kids! 8/9/2005

I absolutely loved this place, as did my child. This is an education aquarium that has all types of sea life. My daughter absolutely loved watching the shark tanks and seeing all the different types of fish. They have a tank where you can touch sting rays. The staff are very personable. They have an IMAX theater which is always fun. They also have a lagoon/marsh trip, that is fun to ride on the boat and learn about different types of sea life. more

Nice Aquarium 8/8/2005

The Virginia Aquarium is a lot of fun. There are tons of fish and other animals to see (check out the otters - they're the greatest!), and also a long nature trail that has small exibits along the way. I've been to larger aquariums in other cities, but the Virginia Aquarium has most of what they do and at half the cost. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends, so go on a weekday if at all possible. The IMAX theater within the museum is also great entertainment and has lots of educational but fun movies for kids. Highly recommended! more

Beautiful Museum with TONS to see and do! 7/21/2005

The Virginia Marine Science Museum has so many awesome exhibits including a HUGE fish tank. They have a skates exhibit where you can actually pet the animals, and a touch tank for the kids. The museum also has otters and seals in their mammal exhibit. Daily there are live productions where the staff shows you how they dive and how they feed the animals. There is also a beautiful outdoor nature trail along a wooden path over the bay, and a nice bird aviary. An Imax theater is also there, and this is the perfect place to take your kids for a fun day at the museum! more
