The master who minds the shop here is an amazing flute player. Let him show you a few things next time you visit. Located in Chinatown, Clarion's got an array of world instruments here, but mostly they specialize in Chinese instruments. The gong selection is insane, beautiful bamboo flutes, pipas, ruans, erhus... They give lessons on a lot of these instruments in the basement, host concerts. On top of selling quality, hard to find instruments, this place is a real resource to connect with the Bay Area music scene. more

Inexpensive Instruments & Lessons 8/10/2005

Clarion Music Center is a great place to find exotic musical instruments of the world. This is the only shop I know of in the Bay Area where you can find instruments from all over the world including Asian instruments such as the Erhu and Gu Zheng, African instruments such as the Djembe and Doumbeck, and the Austrialian Didgeridoo. They also have instruction materials and other accessories. They offer piano, violin, and chinese instrument lessons at reasonable prices. Definitely a place to check out for any world music lover. more

Instruments 8/9/2005

This place sells very cheap violins for those who are just starting out with the instruments. The prices there were the lowest I've seen throughout the city. They also sell flutes and other instruments. I would recommend this place for those of you who are starting out with the violin or flute. more

Clarion Music Center 8/9/2005

This place is so cool because people here are really friendly and they have a wide range of musical instruments to purchase, rent and use. They also have music lessons for different kinds of instruments for students. Definitely come check out this place which is located in Chinatown whenever you want to get a few beats and rhythms in your life. more

Need A Violin 8/4/2005

This music shop is great! You can buy various wooden instruments as well as sheet music. The service is great. There are many violins in many different sizes. Many people take their music lessons there or practice on the pianos there. This store also holds the British Piano Examinations. This store does not sell brass instruments. You will not be able to find a flute or a saxophone. more
