Valleyfair 6/21/2006

Valleyfair is a great place for family fun, we go every year. They have a big picnic area right outside of the amusement park entrance w/many picnic tables, so bring your own food and save some money. If you have paid once, you don't need to pay again as long as you have your hand stamped so this becomes very convenient. Even though this amusement park is not as big as Six Flags in Chicago, it has many exhilirating roller coasters and kiddie rides. Be aware that the main roller coaster called the "Wild Thing" had major technical problems this summer - while people were on the ride one of the "ride" suddenly stopped and injured some people (for the full story go to www.startribune.com). There are a couple of water rides inside of the amusement park that does not cost an extra fee. There are probably a total of 5 water rides which I think is not enough! They also have mini car racing which is inside of the park but you do have to pay an extra fee. What I don't like about Valleyfair is the high cost of admission, approximately $24 per adult and children/seniors are less; kids under a certain age/height are free. My tip would be to purchase tickets in April/May/June at our local grocery store (Cub Foods & Rainbow Foods) for some discounts. Parking is about $5 per car so carpooling would be a great choice but there is plenty of parking for everyone!! One last thing - great staff! I have never experienced any rudeness with my 5 years of attending. more

great amusement park 9/2/2005

I recently brought my kids there. They love this place and enjoy all the rides. I guess we do not have to bring them to disney world for the time being since they enjoy this park so much. I planned to buy their year pass so we can go there as often as we can b4 the winter comes. more

Not all that great 8/17/2005

Valley Fair is overpriced and really not that much fun. Compared to other amusement parks, the rides are sub par, the park is dirty, and the food is bad. There are some rides I would go on, The Corkscrew is good, Steel Venom is good and I love Power Tower. I used to love the place as a kid, but i've kinda grown out of loving Valley Fair, now all I really see are the flaws. But if you have kids with you, it can be more fun. It's kind of out of the way though, that's always been a downside for me as well. Not only would i have to pay for gas, but the ticket and any food I wanted as well. more

Cleanliness, Crowds are Issues 8/16/2005

Valley Fair, in Shakopee, MN is very, very popular! For the most popular rides, The Wild Thing and Steel Venom, waits can approach an hour or more. However, there are lots of rides that you can go on instead.Be prepared to pay a lot for food, about $10-15 dollars per person is average. Make a plan of how to approach the day so everyone can go on their favorite rides, because Valley Fair is quite intimidating without a plan! more

Family Fun Park 7/23/2005

Valley Fair is definately a great place if you like wild rides & lots of fun! As an adult i love this park. The Wild Thing has to be my favorite roller coaster! As for small kids, there is a smaller kiddie park for them to enjoy. Otherwise the rest of the park is pretty more older kid/adult favored. You definatly will not run out of things to do here though & if you like wild rides, this is definately the place! The only downside i can think of is the price for tickets! more
