Nice Stop for the Kids! 10/28/2006

I really enjoyed watching the lions, although they were not super active on either stop there. But it is still very nice to be able to walk right under them and watch them from different angles. The gift shop adjacent is a great place to pick up a souvenier for the kids at home. Definitely a nice free attraction. more

Lion Habitat Kind of Sad 2/21/2003

If you go at night, the lines are short, but then, most of the lions are sleeping. The habitat is bleak, the lions don't look particularly comfortable, and the cubs even play half-heartedly. They'd probably be happier in a zoo where they don't have people staring at them from the other side of a glass wall all day and all night. Gift shop has lots of reasonably priced lion items, that's worth the trip (love the T-shirt with a lion and the caption "Here human, human, human!" Pros: Free, Different, Free Valet Parking Cons: Lines, Atmosphere more

Feed them there sleepy! 12/15/2002

When I showed up at the MGM Grand so I can check out the Lion Habitat. I looked around for awhile and finally came across it. But the Lions were asleep! There they were just snoozing away! The Habitat is kinda small considering that lions have a whole continent to roam and theyre stuck behind a 20 x 30 glass cell with rocks all round them. What MGM should do is expand the habitat and add a couple more lions. These poor little guys need some elbow room! Other than those close quarters it does look like the lions have been eating well! more

Editorial
  • In Short
Families in or near the MGM Grand Hotel should take the kids to see this 6,000-square foot, glassed-in compound. Although lions everywhere have a reputation for too much lounging, the trainers assigned to care for this pride can often make up for it by encouraging play or by showing off with a demonstrative cuddle. There are sunny skylights, waterfalls, overhangs and greenery. Speakers emit a satisfying roar from time to time, although toddlers may find that a bit frightening.
