Watch your purse! 12/28/2010

Went for a private party, food and beer were fine, but wallet was stolen while I was standing 2 feet away. Based on where we were and the fact that I was watching my purse, it was most likely a staff member who stole it. Within 20 min the thief(s) were attempting to charge $1,000s on my credit cards. more

Tasty food and reasonable prices 3/16/2009

Girls night out...we tried quite a few things. Pros: great food, atmosphere and prices Cons: bar drinks could have been better more

Disappointing and Confusing establishment 3/11/2009

Outdoor seating was comfortable and spaced well. Waitress was neutral, not bad but certainly not memorable either. Our bier order was served quickly and was reasonably good tasting and served at a pleasing temperature. Pros: Hefeweisen was tasty Cons: Garlic fries may be the worst food I've ever been served more

Great Staff, Bad Menu and food execution. 3/10/2009

A relative and I tried this establishment on a Tuesday evening. Valet was nice, we were quickly seated, and the server was pleasant. The menu was a mish-mash of different cuisines, with no real theme. When you read an item, it sounds appealing, then they throw a curve ball during the description (Fish & Chips with a Cajun remoulade?) I couldn't tell if this was an asian inspired menu, pub menu, BBQ menu, steak house, or pizza joint. Pros: Location, Cons: Garlic Fries, Menu, execution of food taste. more

Do Yourself a Favor and Steer Clear 10/24/2008

We are big brewpub fans. While visiting Atlanta we have had many good experiences at 5 Seasons.Gordon Biersch, on the other hand, was an unmitgated disaster.A sign of bad karma was the valet parking attendant shooing us away because the lot was full. This was made more curious the sandwich sign in front that read ""immediate seating available.""In fact, the joint was empty. Our server, a friendly little thing, had little to contribute, advising that the ""pretzel coated tilapia"" was ""very popular"" and the Mexican egg rolls were ""nice.""Believe me, the food was not worthy of being on an Appleby's menu! More on that later. It appeared that the kitchen and wait staff were in a hurry to get home, though we sat down at the table at 8:00 p.m.No sooner had our drinks come that we had our appetizers. Before my wife could even ingest a spoonful of her crab and lobster bisque our entrees were delivered.Recognizing that our meals would languish under a heat lamp as we ate our appys (or being coated in saliva by the woeful wait staff) we did not send them back. When asked if the contemporaneous delivery of drinks, appetizers and entrees was how this dive operates, the waitress politely offered ""oh, I did not realize the entrees would come out so quickly."" The food is easy to characterize: industrial. My fish was no more than a dry filet coated in crushed nuts and bread crumbs that tasted like it had been prepared in a company kitchen many weeks earlier, frozen and reheated for me.Pretzel crust?Maybe I don't know what a pretzel is.The pizzas were, well, the kids picked at them if only not to waste food.My wife's fish and chips were dry and tasteless. Are you listening Mrs. Paul? Finally, this is a brew pub.So, what about the beer. The flight of beers was tepid and uninspiring as if on a Milwakee's Best brewery tour.During Ocktoberfest, yet.The bock beer resembled something served at a fraterninty party--the next morning. In short, Go to 5 Seasons and be grateful you did. more

I LOVE THIS PLACE 1/28/2008

Gordon Biersch has the best food, and beer in Midtown. The prices aren't very midtown either. I love going here and sitting by the bar. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Last time I was there I had Erin as my server and she was so sweet. She was super knowledgeable about the beer, and food. I would definately recommend asking for her. If you're in a rush to get to get to The Fox, you should sit at the bar because the bartenders are so much fun and they will accomodate to your time schedule. My favorite beer there is the Martzen. All the beers are brewed right upstairs so the quality is amazing!! Pros: The service, food, and management Cons: The valet can be kind of annoying more

Awesome food and great place for quick service 12/25/2006

My family has been coming here for quite some time and discovered this place after attending a play at the Fox theater. It is a restaurant and bar setting that is good for all types of people. It is kid friendly as well. The beer samplers are great and the humas is wounderful. The portions are above average and service has always been excellent for us. Definately a place that we will continue to go for a fun night out. Pros: valet parking more

Garlic fries are good 12/18/2006

I cannot recommend GB for their service, because it is always very slow regardless of how busy they are. The only thing that I can say is that the garlic fries are pretty good. I have been here about 4 times for lunch with a group of co-workers and we get the same, slow service everytime. Pros: fries Cons: service more

Food is not all that great! 7/11/2005

I have been to GB several times and I got the asian salad one time, which was okay. Then the next time I tried the crab cake sandwich. It tasted like a frozen crab cake. I was very disappointed. Although I do have to say they have the best fries! I will come back for the fries and beer but not the food. Pros: fries, beer Cons: crab cake more

Can't go wrong with GB 10/2/2004

As always, food is above average, good service, good location for people watching on Saturday night. Calamari, BBQ Salmon, Hanger Steak, goat cheese ravioli among my favorites. Beer is great too! I travel nationwide, and all the GB locations are a reliable place to get a quality meal, casual or dressed up, and have a fun time. Pros: Beer, Food, People more

Attitude is Everything... 6/4/2004

The atmosphere of this restaurant has a very welcoming, classy ambience, which I found myself quite comfortable dining in. Interestingly enough, the I watched how the entire GB staff (managers, servers, etc.) efficently worked as whole to make a hectic flood of people be seated quickly, greeted promptly, and had the delicious entree's served shortly after; kudos to their kitchen staff as well. Overall, I was impressed by the quality and efficeny of this rest. and would recomm. it to anyone for anything! Pros: Excellent Beer & Food, Personable Staff, Valet and Prime Locat more

Vampire Killers 10/2/2003

Can I have garlic on my garlic? This place Looooves garlic. Besides that the beer is good. The service is good. It's your typical cookie cutter chain kind of place that brews it's own beer. The food is average. Did I mention they put garlic all over it? Pros: Good Beer Cons: too much garlic more

Great place w/ Great Beer! 9/27/2002

Great place with great beer. My friends and I went to Gordon Biersch on a Friday night and had John as our server. He was so much fun and very cute. John and the wonderfull food and beer is why I will return again. Pros: Great Food, Great Beer more

Beautiful event 8/6/2002

Had a special event on the upstairs level with the private bar and pool tables. The bartenders were very receptive of our needs, almost too accomodating but very generous indeed. I could not have asked for a better environment to bring the people I invited to this party. Chris made our evening very special. THANK YOU ALL!!! more

Valet Parking Sucks! 7/19/2002

No matter how good the food is, if the parking attendant is rude and you have an unpleasant experience going in - the restaurant staff has a lot of making up to do! Great atmosphere. Good food. Average to poor value. Pros: Quality of food, Friendliness Cons: Valet Parking, Prices more

Awesome..... 7/17/2002

What a great place to have a cold german lager and enjoy great food. John was a fantastic person serving us. Ask for him. Pros: Beer, Food, Service more

Lunch great 6/27/2002

I had lunch today with my mom and sister and it was awesome. I had the flautas off the specials menu, my sister had the hummus, and my mom had an asian salad. Everything came out timely and our waitress Emily took good care of us. It was my first time and I can't wait to try dinner and some of their beers. Pros: free valet parking, good service more

Gordon Best 6/26/2002

I had dinner with a friend Friday night and it was awesome. Our server Matt was friendly and very informative about the beer and menu. We both had a Golden Export (or two) and really enjoyed the beer. I had a salmon dish that was spiced perfectly and my friend went for a burger, that was huge, and not on the dinner menu but Matt had it made for us. We both thought the food and service were surprisingly excellent. I did not even know the restaurant was there but I will be sure to check it out again. Pros: service, food more

Rude Server 5/13/2002

I hope all the servers at Gordon Biersch do not follow the lead of the one who decided to quit speaking to my dining companion and me one Sunday evening. Having brought us an unrequested sampler of the restaurant's beer, he rudely took it away when we politely told him we enjoyed it, but weren't in the mood to order drinks. He then refused to look or speak to us throughout the rest of the meal (thankfully we had already ordered food), rudely slammed our plates on the table, and generally behaved like a small child throwing a tantrum. more
