Ballroom with a Twist 4/30/2009

My sister purchased tickets for four of us for a birthday present. She had hoped to treat us to a wonderful night at Chrysler Hall (something really special). However, we feel so bad for her because the show was absolutely boring and amateurish. The lighting was horrible; you could not see the dancers until they moved to the back of the stage. When the dancers were on the right side of the stage facing front, we could not see but half of the performers from our seats on the side (we were sitting in premium seats ? Dress Circle Box Seats). With the producer coming from Dancing with the Stars, we were expecting a professional performance. Wrong ? it was anything but. And the singers, they could have been done without because they were all unprofessional performances except for the one young man with blonde hair. He was very good. Pros: Bad Show Cons: Can not find anything possitive to say about it. more

Wonderful place to see a show! 12/29/2008

I was so surprised to see the bad review of this venue! Sounds like that poster was having a bad day. We went to the very same performance of Spamalot in Novmeber and couldn't have been more pleased! We did not give ourselves much time to get there, yet found easy parking in the lot below. Yes, there was a line of cars to get in, but the police kept the traffic moving. We even had time for a drink before hand. And they let you pre-order and pay for drinks for the intermission which is wonderful so you don't have to wait in line! The venue itself was beautiful. Our seats were excellent in the dress circle, and I can't imagine a bad seat in the house. I can see why this is a favorite place for people to go in Norfolk. Pros: convenient location, good selection of shows, easy parking Cons: I'm from NYC and seen shows at the best venues in the world - couldn't find a con here! more

Chrysler Hall and Scope is a nightmare!!! 11/16/2008

I just returned home from the most terrible experience called Chrysler Hall in the City of Norfolk. I was there to see a comedy called Spamalot, but the real comedy was watching the Norfolk Police and the city parking crew screw up the entire town. Even though we arrived over 1 hour early, this town of incompetents managed to fail to control traffic. Also, in another display of stupidity, the famous craphole Norfolk Scope arena intelligently located next door also scheduled an event at the same time. All lots were closed. We had to park in a church parking lot. We left the play 1 hour early for fear of being towed. Stay out or Norfolk folks! It is a nightmare! more

Horrible Experience 4/20/2008

I was very dissapointed in this experience with Chrysler Hall. After spending a lot of money on 4 tickets to go see Ron White....on my birthday.....we found ourselves in a distracting environment where we were unable to even hear what the entertainer was saying. During the ENTIRE show latecomers were allowed in. People were strolling in late even up until about 15 minutes prior to the end of the show. People continued to be let in and as they were coming in would carry on very loud and disruptive conversations. I have never seen such rude behavior in my life. Why does Chrysler Hall allow this? In the past when attending plays there, once the doors closed they would not allow latecomers to enter until intermission. When did this change? There were so many out of control, intoxicated groups around us that held their own private, LOUD, conversations as if they were sitting in their own living room. NOT TO MENTION the constant ringing of cell phones around us. Nobody ever mentioned at the beginning of the show to turn off cell phones, either. I don't believe I will return to Chrysler Hall after that experience. It is pretty bad when you leave the show and feel like you would have been better served to stay home and put the DVD in. We missed just about the entire show because we weren't able to hear it and that is just ridiculous. Cons: parking, latecomers allowed to stream in throughout entire performance, noise level not controlled by staff more

Rude Atendants 6/2/2002

In May we traveled 450 miles for our daughter's graduation from Eastern Virginia Medical School, which was held in Chrysler Hall. Immediately after the ceremony, we wanted to take a family picture in the lobby because a storm was blowing up outside. We were told that we had to leave the building immediately, because there was going to be another ""show"". My oldest daughter remarked that the graduation was not a ""show"". The attendant replied, Honey, they are all shows to us."" And she insisted that we leave or else she would not be able to have any lunch. We were forced outside into the rain storm and the door was locked behind us! What a rude ending to such a meaningful event for our family. We stood outside in the pouring rain until our ride pulled up. Pros: location, size, acoustics Cons: rude staff more
