Under New Management 3/23/2010

Grasslawn would like to inform all prospective parents that we are now under new management and significant improvements have been made to improve the quality of care provided by the center. Our new Director, Heidi Konrad, has been working in Early Childhood Education for more that 20 years and holds a Masters Degree in Education. Using her educational background and experience, she has brought many positive changes to the center to ensure that the program is managed in a professional manner. These changes include measures to hire and retain qualified teachers, health and safety improvements, implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom management techniques and the development of new policies and procedures. More information about these changes can be seen on our website. Pros: Homelike Atmosphere Cons: No Infant Care more

My child will never attend a childcare center? 2/3/2010

I had this thought made up in my mind, but after visiting this center, I am dead set in the fact my child will never attend a childcare center. The parent's who have complained below have every right and reason to. I have heard not only does this place constantly bounce the children around from room to room to keep ""in ratio"" but they treat their employees awful as well. I attended one day to visit and saw a young woman who was working there that looked very ill. I asked if she was okay, and she answered in a way that immediately told me she was in fact not. So, having employees work sick I assume, also stay in ratio. This is not only unethical to treat your employees this way, but is also very sad they would surround children in this environment. I have talked with other parents about the owner/facilities and have found the reviews to be most accurate. The owner, Hilbert, as well as the director, can care less about the well being of the children or their employees; enrolling and making money in unfit conditions is the only thing they care about. If you are considering this center because it's cheaper than others, it's just not worth it. Take your child somewhere they will be loved and cared for by people who are loved and care for. more

Parents beware 4/13/2009

Let me start by saying, wow was the wool pulled over my eyes. The place always smelt like SH*T! My son hated going there, cried everyday when I dropped him off, they never fed him enough and for some reson he was always in trouble. Gretchen the manager, is such a fake b***h, she acts like she cares about the kids, but really she only cares about her snotty daughter and getting a paycheck! Pros: opened early Cons: everything else more

Very poor management 1/14/2009

I would like to warn everyone to steer clear of Grasslawn, because the management is so awful. My daughter was enrolled there for one year (Jan-Dec of 2008). This past holiday season, the director (Gretchen) violated the contract by closing the center for 5 days instead of 3. Apparently, she thought that she and her staff deserved vacation more than all the parents did! When I brought it to her attention and suggested she change the shedule, she refused. Instead, she offered to have someone open the center to watch just my child. I didn't think this was fair to the other parents, so I kept pressing her to do the right thing and let the other parents know in an official manner. She kept refusing, so I finally wrote a letter to the owner. His ""solution"" to the problem was to kick my child out, on New Years Eve, with only one day of notice! So, here you have management that knowingly violated their contract, didn't fix the problem when called on it, and then punished the parent who complained. And this was such a simple problem, and so easy to fix! Can you imagine how they would handle things if the complaint was something more serious? Cons: Poor management, high staff turnover, small space more

Best Preschool in Redmond!!!!!!!!!! 4/21/2008

My Daughter has been going to Grasslawn since April of 2007 and we LOVE IT! She wakes up every day exciteds to go to school and see her friends and teacher even on the weekend and cries when we have to go home at night. The classes are small only six to ten kids in each and the teachers are truly loving and commited people. We were a little upset when the school closed for a month in December but truly love the new look and hommy shoes off classrooms!!!!! i recomend it to every parent I talk to that is looking for childcare. Pros: Small classes with lots of one on one atention Cons: a little mor costly than a corprate center more
