Bad Food Bad Service 7/7/2009

My husband and I hear the Spring Chicken Inn is a good place to eat so we decided to give it a try. This place is a RIP OFF. First of all their fried chicken doesn't taste very good and its overly greasy like a grease sponge. Second there is not flavoring or taste to the chicken batter. The wait to get a table took a half hour and no one was really in the restaurant. After we were seated we were told that it takes about a half hour to cook the chicken. What? Why... there weren't a lot of people there. My husband and I shared a ""white"" chicken platter because ordering two white chicken dinners would have cost an arm and a leg. The dark chicken is much cheaper but still pricey. The restaurant is dirty, old and needs updating. I would recommend getting fried chicken from somewhere else - even KFC is much better. Do not eat here. Pros: Nothing Cons: Food, Atmosphere, Staff more

Dangerous Place to Eat 5/25/2009

Saturday of Memorial Weekend. Went with a party of 6, including two young children. Restaurant only had one side open. Busy but tables were bussed and open. Owner taking number of party instead of names for seat waiting. We were told we would have to sit at two separate tables. We asked why the two open tables of four could not be pushed together. We were told there would not be enough room for the servers to move around. This was completely false. We were told we could wait for a larger table to open up, possibly 10 minutes. We agreed. Two more parties arrived after us. A party of 3 and a party of 2. The party of 3 was seated first. The party of two consisted of an older gentleman and possibly his teenage grandaughter. The older gentleman got mad and said ""We're Leaving"". I'm not sure why. He came back for his grandaughter and as he was going out the door, the owner said ""Oh No You Don't!"" and physically pushed the older man out the door and into a wooden porch post, in front of one of our party waiting on bench on porch. The door came open again and the grandaughter was trying to keep the owner from hitting the older man. Our party chose to leave at that time. We had two small children and the oldest began to cry. I asked the owner why he would physically attack his customers and he saId he didn't. This all happened right in front of us. We have eaten here in the past at different times and had different experiences. This is like the twilght zone and we will never go back. The oldest child in our party was extremely upset and crying and look what this man has taught her. She plays restaurant, takes an order and then says, You Can Leave Now. Very dangerous place to eat. Pros: Only place in Wanship, Utah to eat Cons: Owner Physically Attacks Customers more

Probably the Best Fried Chicken I've Had 3/2/2009

Incredible! We were invited there by Mike, the owner who is serving as our Real Estate agent. We were just out for the weekend looking at condos and had dinner there with him. At first glance upon arrival, we were doubful. But inside the beautiful wood and stone gave it a country inn feeling. My wife had the fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak. Both were totally awesome, as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. The servers were very friendly and I would recommend everyone make the drive and eat there. It is now on our list of places to eat whenever we are in Park City. Pros: Incredible food, great service, great prices Cons: Bit of a drive from Park City more

5* reputation - FAIL 1/28/2009

I've been here a number of times, the first time was great, but the next couple of times were dreadful. That's why I'm amending my review. Pros: reputation Cons: service and food more

Famus Spring Chicken Inn 1/11/2009

Food: its ok. I give it 3/5, it could be better. They serve food in small quintities. Chicken is just lard, flour, and salt. I have seen many times, chicken come out, unfished, uncooked, bloo dy. The costumers refuse to eat it and leave. Pros: the food has gone up$ and the boss dont care Cons: Its nasty more

Great Food. Great Potential. Great Family Prices. 10/31/2008

The Famous Spring Chicken Inn is a great place. It has a home country feel and GREAT FOOD! The new owner is a great guy with high standards and morals. He cares so much about how the customers feel. There is so much behind the scene glitches in the restaurant business. People don't realize this. The Food has always been and always will be top quality. On the other hand now days it is harder to find people who want to work in the restaurant business that have great work ethics... ESPECIALLY in a small town. The service is improving as time goes on. I would like to clarify that if you go in there with a bad attitude YOU WILL GET BAD SERVICE. it is in the attitude of yourselves. Remember that. As for the chicken sandwiches not being available on dinner hours. That customer was misinformed. I can already tell you that customer was a pain in the butt to even wait on. Its not the service that is bad. It is the customers attitude before they get there that is bad. If the customer is in a bad mood they reflect that attitude on their waitress. REMEMBER THAT. more

Best chicken I have ever had. 10/18/2008

Being a FRIED CHICKEN fan, I have to say that this is some of the best I have ever had. Service needs a little help but well worth the drive. In my opinion one of the best little secrets in Utah. more

4.5 Star chicken with 1 star service 9/8/2008

I was quite exited to try this ""best chicken in the west"" but left with a bitter taste in my mouth from the service. Pros: Good chicken, nice place Cons: Service, Cost more

Best Fried Chicken in the West! 8/29/2008

Been eating there for years. With the new ownership it took a bit, but they are doing great. The chicken is still the best in the west. Most crunchy, fresh and juicy around and they are doing bigger salads with great Thousand Island Dressing and bigger soda's. They still need beer though! Pros: Many Cons: Few, the rolls maybe more

Best chicken on the planet! 8/25/2008

The Spring Chicken Inn has lost some of its appeal since changing owners. The cons are the service is very sporatic, usually on the slow side. The salad and rolls are only marginal at best. BUT having said that, it is one of my most favorite places to eat. The drive in a peaceful ride and the chicken...it is truly the best chicken I have ever had. It takes a while to get your food because they cook it fresh when ordered and it is sooo worth the wait. despite it's shortfalls I would still recommend The Spring Chicken Inn to anyone who loves fried chicken at its best. Pros: awesome chicken Cons: slow service, average salad, rolls more

Avoid until new owner gets a clue. 6/24/2008

We usually drive to the Spring Chicken Inn at least once a year for the great chicken. The cafe has obviously changed owners and we had very poor service even though the resturant was only half full on a Saturday night. The menu price has gone up substantially and you can no longer get a sandwich for dinner. The minimum amount of chicken you can order is 1/2 instead of the quarter in years past. The busboy had to get the waitresses attention to get our order. She didn't bring our drinks out until after we had finished our salads and that was after asking a different waitress if we could get our drinks. Stay away until the new owner figures out that service is important along with finding a way to make a reasonable priced meal. Maybe cut down the portions so that 1/2 chicken is not the minimum. more

Best Fries & Chicken in UtTah 7/14/2004

Takes a little time because your chicken is freshly fried and the French fries are FRESH cut and fried after you order. Everything arrives super hot and super delicious. Fly fishermen, this is a must along the crystal clear waters of the Weber just below Rockport Dam in Wanship -- 15 minutes north of Park City. Pricing is more than a bargain and the portions are large. Great Sunday drive with lunch 1/2 way! Pros: Inexpensive, Beautiful Surrounding more

Well worth the drive! 10/20/2002

Well worth the drive.... We love taking the fall drive to enjoy true fried chicken like you can get in the South. The service has always been great and the food....amazing! It sits in a very simple setting, which makes it all the more enjoyable. more
