Wow! Amazing food, fun ambiance, and all clean food! 8/23/2007

Well, unless you hate food with a lot of flavor, this better be your next celebratory dinner place. It's not cheap, but as they say, you get what you pay for. Chef Ric Orlando insists on Clean Food (google that if you don't know what it means) and you can tell. All the food is fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. You should probably like at least moderately spicy food as most of the food has some level of spice (they have some mild options but mild doesn't always mean spice free - my grandmother is sensitive and has a bad experience). \r \r Overall, I love it. The ambiance is great and I go there as often as I can afford to go! Pros: Great food in fun ambiance. Cons: A bit pricey but worth it! more

Intelligent, diverse, value-minded, and uplifting dining experience 6/22/2007

New World basically offers the whole package (atmosphere, service, food quality) without price gouging customers. The restaurant offers fine dining food quality and service in a casual atmosphere. I would say just about anyone can find something they will love on the menu, although I am partial to the first page of specials. New World is NOT in the 'chain restaurant' category. Also recommend splitting appetizers as entrees are 'hearty' portions and you will definitely want to save room for desert! Pros: Food quality and creativity. Well-informed staff. Atmosphere. Cons: No Belvedere at the bar more

diverse, healthy, inventive food will totally bl0w your mind 5/29/2007

New World is one of the most unique restaurants I have ever been to, period. The atmosphere of the place is completely reflective of the Saugerties-Woodstock area, down to the hipster waitstaff. The service is great -- the waiters are incredibly attentive -- they have to be, because it'll take forever on first visit to decide what to get. There are so many options, even for vegetarians -- and everything that comes out of the kitchen is not only beautifully crafted, but incredible-tasting. People who enjoy spicy food will especially enjoy Ric Orlando (head chef & owner's) talent for combining ingredients. There is truly no other place like New World; everything inside the front doors has a specially unique and inventive touch. If you ever want something completely different than everything you've had before, you've got to check this place out. Pros: incredible food, inventive, atmosphere, great service, awesome interior, big menu Cons: none! more

Hot Dang - You can't go wrong at New World. 8/27/2006

This is definitely a favorite place for me and the husband-to-be to go every time we head up to the Woodstock area. Great overall environment and an unbelievable selection of food! If you aren't the experimental type the menu could be intimidating - But don't be scared! I've experimented and tried things I've never dreamed of eating and I was so unbelievably surprised how good everything was. From Meanhouse BBQ Ribs to New World Jrk Chicken and green beans to die for, you can honestly taste how fresh all of the ingredients are. Great place to start broadening your global palate :) Pros: Fresh Food, great selection, fun vibe! Cons: Make a reservation on the weekends more

New World best of both worlds 8/4/2003

Best restaurant I've eaten in on both sides of the Atlantic (I'm a native of Great Britain). Don't miss the fried calamari, especially tossed over the ""Sexy Caeser Salad."" Bistro Steak with Chimmichurri sauce is top notch too, but take a chance with anything on the menu - it's all ALWAYS first rate. more

inconsistent 7/23/2003

I've eaten here on several occasions and my expericences very greatly. I've had both good & bad meals and I've had both good & bad service. I believe that receiving good service here is largely a function of a particular server being very good at serving and not a result of any overall training of the waitstaff. I've ordered food that was listed as a 9 on their ""ric""ter scale of spiciness that was not even a 2 as far as I could tell. I've had probably the worst scallops & mussels that I've ever had there. However, I have had a really good Vietnamese calamari dish and a great Thai BBQ Salmon here as well. Their burgers are really good (even though they don't serve them with fries). Pros: fun atmosphere/ art, many veggie options, organic products Cons: inconsistency, attitude, cheesy descriptions more

All Time 7/20/2003

Hands down, my favorite restaurant ever. Enjoy New World's delicious, inspired food with total confidence that you're neither hurting your body nor harming the planet. I LOVE the food here and, for a really cool adult spot, they sure know how to make you feel welcome and comfortable when you're out with the kids. Thanks, New World! Pros: Fantastic food!!!, Good for you too!, Even great for kids! more

new food bad cooking 12/18/2002

rather pretentious in a funky new wave way. More a club than a good resataurant. Food can be good but is usually mediocre-bad, over-priced drinks. Good free music and dancing on Fridays. Pros: fun and funky Cons: over priced, inconsistent food more

awesome 10/13/2002

Tired of precious little perfect cafes with no soul and less sense of humor. New World is the best. The quality of the food is superior and the flavors are immense. The is no self consciousness here. It is a great night out! Ray Pros: Creative, Organic, Friendly Cons: Busy more
