As a girl with thick, curly, frizzy hair, I've had my fair share of disappointing blow-dries from bad stylists. But my experience at Tuscan Sun was one of the worst in recent memory.
I went into Tuscan Sun on a Sunday for a last minute wash and blow-dry, as I was in Franklin for the weekend and it was the only salon I could find that was open. Once Katy began blow-drying my hair, I quickly realized that she had no idea how to style curly hair. She completely neglected to dry my roots and back bottom layers. When she finished and asked what I thought, I looked at her in shock and explained that my hair was not dry. She tried to argue with me, despite the fact that simply running a hand through the back of my hair was more than adequate proof of my statement. Nonetheless, she agreed to dry it more and spent an additional 2-3 minutes feebly pointing the blowdryer at the back of my head, leaving it soaked underneath.
After deciding I didn't have the energy to argue any more, I paid and walked out. But after feeling how wet my hair was, I decided to go back in and say something. This is when Tuscan Sun reached a new low. On those few occasions in the past when I have had a hair experience bad enough to actually complain about it, salons have always been incredibly apologetic, either offering to immediately fix the problem or giving me a refund or substantial discount. Tuscan Sun, however, did neither. When I asked to speak to the owner of the salon, I was told by the receptionist that he was busy with a client. She also told me that no other stylist was available and I would have to wait around for an hour or so if I wanted someone to fix it (by which time my hair would have dried into a frizzy mess). When I told her I could not wait, she didn't offer any refund or discount but simply said goodbye. In disbelief, I went home and spent 20 minutes blow-drying my own hair.
I could have dealt with the terrible service I received at Tuscan Sun had the salon been professional and courteous enough to remedy the problem; instead, they happily took my $30 and refused to so much as apologize. I will never return to this salon, and I don't recommend it to anyone.
