Horrible Experience! I was recently in a car accident and my car needed to be towed. The police called Hix Wrecker to take my car- they did not ask if this is where I wanted my car to be taken. They must have some kind of shady deal with this company. I called Hix the same day that my car was towed and they informed me that before I could come get anything out of the car it needed to be released by the police department. Because it was after hours the police department was not open and therefore I could not pick up my belongings until the next day. Hix informed me that it would be a 40 dollar fee for each night that my car was left there. After getting hold of the police department, they informed me that this was not the case- my car did NOT need to be released by the police. Hix was trying to charge me for additional nights which was false information. They also charge a ridiculous towing fee of 250 dollars on top of the 40 dollars a day. Once arriving to this rundown, smoke filled, trash hole I was greeted by 4 rude, unhelpful, staff members who could not even take the time to get off their phones to notice that there was a costumer standing at the window. I paid the 250 dollars and was taken around back to get things out of my car. They would not let me take my brand new 200 dollar stereo that I had just installed into my car. The man that walked me back to the car was useless and rude. He said that I had to pay the towing fee ( which I obviously did because this was the only way I could even go to the back to the car- what an idiot) and buy the car back before I could take the stereo that I had installed. I would not advise going anywhere near this place- unless you like dealing with unpleasant, overcharging, idiots. more

Was stranded out towards Rockville Indiana at about 11 pm they said a truck was on its way it'll be about an hour I called an hour later they said the driver was a 70 year old man and could see the road when it was a clear night. So he said another driver was on his way. I called 20 minutes later he said give them 5 minutes and they'll be on their way. I get a call a half hour later with the driver saying he was stopping for fuel and then will be on his way while he is still in Indy. A friend got a hold of someone in Brazil that could get I called 10 minutes to cancel the tow truck and he told me he already drove 40 miles and was almost there. No idea how you can drive 40 miles in 10 minutes. Then charged a dry haul fee. Will not rely on them unless I have a whole day to waste more

This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever experienced! They were rude when I called to inquire about their location. I had to talk to 3 different people to get accurate directions. When I arrived to check on the vehicle and get my belongings I was treated like a criminal who was attempting to steal something. I was finally cleared to drive back to the vehicle and retrieve my things. more

Hix will be my wrecker service of choice from now on. We were stranded at 2am in Indy. They came in 15 minutes, then loaded, dropped car at dealership, assisted with after hours dealership paperwork, then took us home. Conversation was great and he was professional. Our driver was Chris Bartley if he is available, you'll be in good hands. I did get the impression that he was well trained so other drivers are probably solid too!! Oh yea, forgot to mention, for emergency 24 hour service...CHEAP. Pros: Professionalism and price Cons: Impound price is rough, don't get arrested. more

Without going into great detail, this wrecker service sux. They towed my truck to their compound and helped themselves to my personal items that were in the truck at time of towing. The police said that it was my word against theirs (Cop-out). Hix is going to be turned into the Att. Generals office for theft and for filing a false report. They have some kinda deal with the city or county and get police towing requests. I ran off the road and crashed into a tree, I was slightly injured and was unable to have the truck towed right away. The next day the police had it "IMPOUNDED" and now the whole deal is gonna cost over a thousand dollars to get my truck and whats left of it's contents back. more

My husband was almost critically injured by another driver while on his moped. Hix came to pick it up after he wrecked it and he went to the hospital and ended up staying for a week.. I called to see how much it would cost to get it back and they said $450 dollars! That is how much a new moped would cost! I told them to forget it and hung up. Hope they are enjoying the moped. Pros: none Cons: them or their kids are probably enjoying the scooter. more

Hubler chevrolet recently hired Hix Wrecker Service to tow our car to their service center. Somewhere between our driveway and Hubler Chevrolet, the driver's side mirror disappeared. The tow truck driver first said he could not recall whether the mirror was there or not when he picked up the vehicle, then he insisted the mirror was never there (untrue), then he insisted it was still there when he left it at Hubler Chevrolet. Hix says it is my word against their driver's word (even though he changed his "word" twice). They offered to see if they had a mirror "lying around" that "might work" that they would give me. They did not have one and will not replace the lost mirror. I would not trust this company again. more
