I will never go to John the Baker again. The food was absolutely disgusting. My family and I ordered Chicken Marsala, Chicken Parmigiana and a large cheese pizza. First of all, I don't know what they call chicken marsala, because for one it's in an orange sauce, two there is no wine in it, and three it tasted watery and very bland. The chicken parmigiana we ordered was brought to the table burnt and it tasted like complete rubber. It was so hard to chew I could have broken some teeth eating it. The pizza was okay but nothing to brag about. John needs to step it up a notch, otherwise he could go out of business! I think the only thing I enjoyed here was the fountain soda. Never again! Cons: The parking lot is so tiny! more

PIzza is OK. It's not the best I've had in the area. Umberto's on University Drive is the best in my opinion. The garlic knots are great. The dinners are pretty good too. I guess it just depends on who is making the pie's when you eat there. My pie was very stingy on the cheese and full of bubbles in the crust. I'm told this is from not letting the dough rise long enough. I'll try them again in Cooper City. I don't blame them for leaving the old place, the plaza is dead ever since the Home Depot closed up. Also, they don't take credit cards. Pros: Garlic Knots and the Service was very good. Cons: Pizza was just ok. more

I grew up eating John's Pizza, Garlic Rolls and Casserole cooked Lasange and Baked Ziti from the early days when he had another establishment in N. Miami. I followed him to his Ft. Lauderdale stores John the Baker. Pizza is awesome, the Ziti and Lasagna dishes are cooked casserole style and are fantastic. The biggest draw though are the Garlic rolls. I've traveled the country in the sales industry and I've found none, and I mean NONE that come close anywhere else I've been. Pros: The food is fantastic and in a relaxed neighborhood hang out atmosphere Cons: There aren't any unless you're one that needs a restaurant with the hoity toity upscale feel. more

I met John through my best friend Mike. I live in Minnesota, the first place I go when I visit Florida is John the Bakers, his food is to die for, best pizza there is ! And garlic rolls !, my wife likes them so much I had my friend Mike next day air them to Minnesota ! John The Baker is a family tradition in our house anyway. I have been eating with John since I was three years old when his uncle Mario was in North Miami. Now thirty plus years later my three little boys, my husband and I eat at John The Baker atleast three times a month. Keep the pizza and those awsome rolls coming... This has to be the best Italian eatery around. The Garlic bread could scare away Dracula from 100 yards. The service is great and the atmosphere is laid-back. If you are looking for elegant, this is definitely not the place for you. But if you want a family atmosphere and good food, this is the place. more
