After living in Clear Creek County for nearly 10 years, I am amazed that Beau Jo's continues to draw anyone. My family tried numerous times to see what brought people here, tried nearly everything. The dough every time under cooked, basically raw beneath the golden brown, absolutely disgusting. Ever eat a shrimp pizza with raw dough?-once should have been enough, lesson learned. more

Great Unusual Pizza 3/15/2004

If you are a fan of thin crust, New York style pizza, Beau Jo's isn't for you. If you like stewed tomatoes (Chicago Deep Dish) pizza, Beau Jo's isn't for you. If you want a crust with flavor, fresh toppings, choices of sauces, there is no better place than Beau Jo's. more

Colorado Icon 3/15/2004

Beau Jo's has been around for over 30 yrs. What a lot of people don't realize is there are 5 other locations across the front range, and in my experience, they're all just as good (believe me, I get out a lot) as the original in Idaho Springs. Support a long-lived and well-recognized business by checking them out---it's worth it!!! Pros: Fresh, tasty pizza, atmosphere, service Cons: , smile! have fun! more

Pizza shouldn't look or taste like this 2/3/2004

Beau Jo's pizza is only good if you like fluffy whole wheat pizza crust with the added treat of honey to dip the crust in for a special kick. Beware New York style pizza lovers! It's an odd version and it's not delicious by any means. Don't be fooled into thinking your going to get the best pizza, not by a long shot. more

Bad pizza 12/11/2003

The idea of honey on pizza is pathetic , and gross. This eating establishment , if that what you want to call it , has the worst pizza I have ever had. When I moved out here 4 years ago everyone said ""You have to go to Beau Jo's"" They have the best pizza in Colorado! A frozen pizza is comparatable! But like most of Colorados food it keeps up with the trend , HORRIBLE! If you want good pizza go to the LEDO in Lynn , Massachusetts , thats pizza! more

Should Be National #1 12/4/2003

If anybody who likes (or loves) pizza, has never been here, you really need to go. It's worth a single-purpose pilgrimage. You choose the dough, you choose the base, you choose the oil, you choose the toppings, you choose the cheeses, and then wait like a slobbering dog until your custom-crafted pizza is produced. It's well worth it. more

Location, Location, Location 10/19/2003

I really believe that the popularity of Beau Jo's has more to do with hungry Denverites returning from a day or weekend of play in the mountains than the actual pizza. When you spend a day on the slopes whether it be skiing, boarding, biking or hiking, and you are heading down I-70 down the hill, the idea of Beau Jo's pizza is an enticing craving. Add to that the small cozy town of Idaho Springs with its inviting main street, and the old mining feel of the restaurant, and any good food will do. The product does have its merits, after all if it were just cardboard no one would return. The selection of crusts, cheeses, sauces and toppings is noteworthy. I love their Prairie Pie with anchovy. I will continue to eat at Beau Jo's and recommend it for newcomers. Pros: location, ambience, venue Cons: crowded on weekends, parking, waiting for service more

Beau Jo's 10/18/2003

Absolutuely wonderful crust, great selection of toppings, wondernful setting, especially Silver City store. Pros: Great food, Great settings Cons: Not in my home town. more

REAL Pizza joints! 9/4/2003

Denver knows squat about pizza! Coming from the 'Za kingdom, Springfield, MA, eating what Mile Highers consider pizza is laughable. Greasy, doughy, sloppy, stuffed, crappy slices with piled toppings. C'mon. New Yorkers know pizza, and the Springfield MA area has got those foldable, loveable, jam it in your mouth flavor filled slices. Pizza is an artform perfected by those back east. The closest thing to it out here that I've had is a toss up between two joints. #1. Ricos on South Broadway and Hampden. From Naples and Brooklyn, the guys at Rico's do it right! #2. Anthony's off the 16th Street Mall. Way to go boys! Please...no more of this BeauJo's garbage! NO more frozen Nick and Willy's chain food. Take and bake is a joke. Folks out here need the hole in the wall red and white checkered tables of the East Coast...pizza JOINTS, not pizza restaurants (chains). more

It must be a Denver thing 8/13/2003

When I came to Denver, everyone said go to Beau Jo's. So I did... what is the hoopla all about, it's not good pizza. The crust is doughy and the sauce is just wrong. I really dislike this pizza. I guess it must be a denver thing. Pros: The evening ended, I kept it down, Inexpensive Cons: The Pizza, The Pizza Crust, The Pizza Sauce more

I know it gets the nostagia pick.... 8/8/2003

but seriously, who, besides tourists, eats this crap. Save your money by baking a loaf of bread and smothering it with honey. You can't tell me you remember what was on the pizza. For serious pizza lovers, go to Nicolo's for the fat stuff, Anthony's for the thin stuff and Armando's if you're in the mood for white pizza. more

Moutain Pies from Heaven 8/8/2003

This is the very best pizza in the entire state of Colorado. Located in an old mining town, nestled into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. You can choose about any style of pizza imaginable, but I reccommend the super, thick crust. Enjoy the pizza, then top off the meal by devouring the home made crust. They even have bottles of honey at each table to pour onto the crust, mind blowing !! And for the kids, you can draw pictures on your napkins and they hang them on the walls. A definite must for anyone visiting Colorado, or for those lucky enough to live in Colorado. Pros: Great Food, Incredible atmosphere, great scenery Cons: parking more

are you kidding? 8/8/2003

This pizza is a joke. Where else can you go to wait 45 minutes to sit down and then be served a bland ""specialty"" pizza. Pizza is supposed to have flavor this one does not, and to boot it is way way way overpriced. I guess it should not surprise me that BJ's scored highly, look at what is second, Nick and Willys TAKE AND BAKE. Is Colorado full of people who have no idea what a good pizza is? I though most of the peopl here were from Chicago anyway. Pros: none, none, none Cons: crowded, food, price more

Beau Jo's In Idaho Springs 8/8/2003

I would have agreed that the Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs was the best in Colorado ten years ago. Maybe even five years ago. But the quality has severely deminished over the last five years. The service is extremly slow and the last few times I have been served lukewarm pizza after waiting close to an hour. Beau Jo's used to be our standard stopping place for dinner after a day on the slopes. Not any more. I would rather go home and order from Pizza Hut across the street. Pros: Location Cons: Slow Service, Limited Parking, Cold Food more

And the winner is . . . 7/24/2003

I've gone to this place maybe half a dozen times in the last 25 years. What can I say - still overpriced and still overhyped! Cons: Slow, Overpriced, This is pizza??? more

The best pizza 7/24/2003

OMG It is the best ever I wont have anything other than Beau Jos.. The best part of the pizza is the crust drench it in honey and its to die for.. I go there every chance I get when I return from Breckenridge.. If you ever get the chance go.. more

Bread crust/ tasteless chees 7/6/2003

Typical of today's pizza and what people settle for: crust that is tasteless and bready and cheese that is also tasteless. Seems as long as the crust is thick and the plastic cheese is plentiful that warrants a high rating. Believe me, this pizza for people without taste buds. Cons: tasteless, bready crust, kids will like it more

Best Pizza in Denver! 8/13/2002

I moved away from the Denver area about 4 years ago. When I lived in Colorado it was always a treat to go to Beau Jo's, it is honestly some of the best pizza I've ever eaten!!! The crust is the best asset at this restaurant, it's always fixed exactly right! Beau Jo's should be the number 1 pizza restaurant in Denver. Whenever I go back to Denver I always make sure to have a pizza from Beau Jo's! Pros: Great Food, Good Service Cons: Too far away for me more
