Well nothing like having to walk up to the bar when there are two (maybe three) waitresses working, and three customers in the entire bar. Its even better when you have to wait for them to finish their conversation before they even acknowledge you. Beer was cheap but tasted like soap. Then everyone goes out to smoke leaving me and my two friends as THE ONLY ones in the bar, this was a lifetime first. But not before they turn up the music incredibly loud so they can hear it out side. In the past bands are treated incredibly rude and have to compete with the nearby air hockey table. Atmosphere is bad too, a bunch of macho insecurity tough guys. Usually I could careless about writing reviews but this place is beyond letting it go. Not even a good dive. Iliff Park Saloon is under new management since March 2009. Since that time, the bar has striven to return the glory days of live music. Great band line ups, a new menu and a new look. There is entertainment every night, from karaoke to open mic and a really good poker tour. The drink and food prices are competitive and there is always live music on friday and saturday nights. The new owner also supports the local music scene, the cover at the door goes to the bands, not to the bar. After a couple of iffy months, this is now one of the up and coming places to hang out as a rock bar. Forget the stuffiness of downtown bars..you can hang out here and just be yourself.
