The best vet around 6/2/2010

I've been taking my dog to PAMC since I moved to the Pocket Area 2 years ago because it's in the same plaza as my grocery store, and it's very easy access for me. Everyone at the clinic have been wonderful - from the techs to the front desk staff to the doctors. Last year, Sajak became really sick; none of the staff gave up until they diagnosed him and came up with a workable treatment. I also use PAMC to board Sajak when I'm on vacation; he has a great time because everyone spoils him rotten when he stays there. He is actually NOT afraid to go to the vet...in fact, he tries to pull me in there when we pass the front door so he can say hi to his friends. Highly recommended!! Pros: Amazing staff Cons: None more

I love Pocket Animal Medical Ctr 3/29/2010

I'm very particular about who cares for my cat. He has been a patient with PAMC since about Sept 08 -- when he was about 3 weeks old; now close to 1.5 years old. PAMC has always been very thorough in their care, advice and follow-up when it came to my cat. Whenever I call (no matter how many times), they (either a technician or the doctor) have always been patient and thoroughly answered my questions -- with sincerity and with a smile in their voice! I feel very at home with them. Dr. Jones, and Dr. Chancellor (and the other doctor's name escapes me) are very personable, excellent doctors. My cat even hooked one of the doctors in the face... and she was so calm in handling him -- while she painfully removed his claw out of her chin (ouch!). In terms of their pricing.... I've always thought they were pretty reasonable. Not too pricey, although there may be some services that I have not had to use -- thank goodness :-). Too, they are open Mon-Sun, weekdays until 7pm.. The staff is beautiful.. always helpful, caring, and "homey". We are always laughing -- having some great conversation. I don't know... they are great to me... Their facilities are very clean.. professional! They really make sure they take care of my cat's health (my baby), and my concerns... Pros: Caring, Knowledgeable, Available, Always follow-up Cons: Haven't really seen any as yet more

Too expensive!!! 12/27/2009

I used to be a client at Natomas Animal Medical Center (which I loved). We moved to the South Sac area and decided to stick with the same company, but closer to home. Assuming the prices would be the same, we started bringing our pets there. While I have nothing bad to say about the doctors (all visits were good) I was shocked by the prices! Way more then I paid in Natomas. Front staff is ok. One lady is fantastic...I can't remember her name, she is African American and I loved her! She was so sweet, and caring, and loved my cats every visit. Other people in the front are alright. Nothing like Natomas where I love EVERYONE! With their prices so high...we are currently in the process of finding another vet in our area. Or perhaps we may just make the the drive to Natomas. Here is an example...I called Natomas AMC to get a quote for a neuter & declaw for a cat....$239. Called Pocket AMC...$398! What a joke! No way can we keep up with their outrageous prices! Pros: Good doctors, staff Cons: way over priced! more

Kind Care 10/21/2008

Dr. Reese was quite professional and also kind to my cat. I brought him in for intestinal problems with no certain cause and he was treated both in hospital and in the kennel with medication. The several technicians that I saw most often were very gentle with him and took good care of him. He had an IV in his leg for 2 days and a lampshade on as well. I recommend visiting your animal every day he/she is in for medical care - you should advocate for your animal and bring food and special bedding or brushes and toys that make him feel more comfortable. Check his conditions and ask questions. These folks were very easy to work with. When I picked him up he was all cleaned up and even his pet dome bed had been washed. Everything was returned to me and they helped me out. The following weekday, one of the technicians called to check on him. Since I had followup questions, this was very timely and much appreciated. Of course the cost of care was shocking but their fee structure is in line with other vets. However, their facility is very clean, modern and is well staffed. They are open every day so it is possible to speak to a vet on the weekend, although it may not be the same vet. Most importantly to me, my cat was not traumatized by his care there. Some vets and vet staff are rough and impatient with animals. When I visited him at Pocket he was unhappy to be in a cage but at peace with his surroundings. By the time I picked him up he was in good spirits and excited to be going home. I hope he doesn't need more than a check-up and shots ever again, but for that and any other medical care, I would take him back to Pocket again and recommend them to others. Pros: Hours, quality of service, convenience more

HUMMMM 7/29/2008

Well lets see, I have been going to this clinic for YEARS, Dr. Jones is fantastic, I use to also see Dr. Surbida when she was there, and Dr. Kendall a few years back, but in the last couple years the front staff support has gone to the Dogs!!! There use to be a girl there by the name of Debi, a very mature person and a wealth of information, and another very friendly girl by the name of Michelle, I remember there names because I use to talk to them alot when I would come in with one of my many, many dogs. They both left suddendly, I heard due to poor management on the owners part--but anyway they were fantastic also, and the place has not seemed to recover since, as far as the front staff goes---Dr. Jones is still my favorite, very compassionate and truly a great person---so if you can manage to get thru the front staff you will lenjoy Dr. Jones care. Pros: Dr. Jones Cons: Receptionist more

Do Not Take Your Pet To This Clinic 2/22/2008

I took my dog to this clinic on more than one occassion because it is conveniently located in the Pocket Area. Dr. Lisa Jones not only recommended expensive and unnecessary testing on more than one occassion, she performed surgery on my dog that turned out to be unnecessary as well. Dr. Jones failed to keep me informed during the ordeal, and did not offer any option other than surgery. After this occurred, I spoke with several neighbors and friends about the treatment my dog received, and was informed that they had similar experiences. In my opinion, you should avoid this clinic at all costs. Their turnover of doctors is extremely high, and their staff, while friendly, is uninformed and, in my opinion, unprofessional. Pros: It is conveniently located in the Pocket area of Sacramento Cons: Dr. Jones frequently recommends unnecessary testing and procedures more

Definitely worth it 9/6/2007

I took my cat to be declawed and spayed. During her 3 day stay I was allowed to come and visit her after the surgery. When I called to check up on her they knew her by name and commented on how she's such a sweetheart. It was comforting to know that they spend time with the animals in their care. I have to agree that the front desk is lacking in a little customer service areas... long waits with no acknowledgment and minimal knowledge. There have been a few times they were able to answer my "medical" questions though, so I think it depends on who you get. Either way... my puppy is set to be neutered there this month, so I am definitely happy with their services. more

Best Vet in the world 7/23/2007

The best vet in the world works at Pocket, Dr. Lisa Jones. She sustained two aged dogs (Chelsea & Brendan) through liver failure, heart failure, and kidney failure, both dogs living quite well for almost two years with their respective conditions. She proactively searched the internet and conferred with UCDVM to determine the most effective medical and pharmaseutical care. Most importantly, Dr. Jones was at my side during the agonizing times when quality of life became a primary issue and euthanasia was needed. Unbelievable compassion for both myself and my "kids". more

cheap vet 7/30/2006

Great vets especially Dr. Jones. Vet. Techs offered terrible service cheap and great care walk-ins ok Pros: vets/value Cons: vet techs more

Highly Recommended - Great Value, etc.!! 10/12/2004

This vet clinic is the cheapest that I found (out of 6 clinics)! VERY REASONABLE prices and they have extended office hours. That is a huge bonus. Their vets are excellent with the animals and excellent with the owners. You can also purchase maintenance products there. Biggest drawbacks are that the office staff are not very knowledgable, thus unable to help, and they do not have an emergency clinic (24 hr). My dog does not fear going there! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Vets, Easy to get Apoint. more
