Taj India

We went on a Saturday for their lunch buffet. Service was good. Naan kept coming and water glass were kept filled! The food was ok but not bad for the price. My husband being allergic to daal peas etc could only eat 2 things out of many on their menu. Chicken mukhani and chicken tikka. There was no saag or palak panir. That being said, the eggplant pakoras, chutneys, daal, alu matar were delicious! Gulab jamin tasted horrible ( too dry!). But their naan were excellent. Their dessert was some weird rice with sweet and spicy taste. more

Lunch Buffet does not have many choices.. Only few entrees available in Buffet..and the ambiance is not up to standard. more

I have always enjoyed their hospitality. Food is good, and people are nice. Buffet is ok and little bland, but dinner items are good. more

I have been to India and eaten plenty of meals there..guest house, restaurants, home cooking etc..The food at Taj India had the same great taste as what I have eaten in India...My Son in law is from Indian and cooks wonderful Indian dishes loves the Taj too. We happen to be going there tonight for dinner. The Tandoori chicken is the best I have had!!!! more

I love the buffet a taj india. I never have a problem finding enough to eat and since every day it changes, I always find that I have an opportunity to try something new. I have found the food to be flavorful and the staff to be friendly. I wish that they had better desserts, but that would be my only complaint. Oh, parking can be a pain sometimes. more

Being of Indian origin ...oh lets see.. since birth, I think I have tasted my share of authentic Indian cuisine. I am very proud of my people and their zesty and flavorful cuisine, which in my opinion is one of the best in the world. \r Taj India and their sad lunch buffet bring those feelings to utter shame. This has got to be the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. I have lived in the Birmingham area for over 4 years and inevitably one of my American friends will suggest that we eat there. Every time I walk out the door swearing to not eat there again! \r This last time I decided to take action against this restaurant's lackadaisical attidude by the mere fact that they are the ONLY Indian restaurant in a 10 mile radius. \r By catering to mostly an American crowd, who may not have any experience with good indian cooking, they have some how escaped real criticism. Having never been to India, the validity of my opinion is somewhat deminished by the limit of my perspective, but if Taj India is indeed authentic Indian cuisine then we are wasting our time cooking any other way. PROS: Excellent food CONS: somewhat limited lunch buffet more
