Shaw Walk-In Medical Center

I am outraged at this health clinic! Went during walk in hours 8-10, we were the second patient to sign in, we didn't get seen until 10:00, the assistant never made eye contact, had my daughter use a plastic spoon that to cover her eye to do the eye chart that was just sitting open on a counter in the hall way. Garbage can in the room was open! I was standing in the open doorway to the room waiting, watched the P.A. ""VU"" go in and out of rooms not washing her hands at all, I know this because there was only 1 sink outside the rooms and I heard the other sick patients coughing and sneezing so I wanted to see if she was washing before entering each room, NOT ONCE did she wash her hands!!!! She didn't even look at us 1 time while in the room. When she declined my perfectly healthy teen daughter for a sports physical who has been playing sports for ever and is perfectly healthy, she said follow me, we followed her up to a counter where she asked the receptionist to make a copy of her shot record then walked away without saying anything to us, just left us standing, we had No idea she was done with the physical and she didn't even explain anything or that she declined my daughter, I found out when looking through the papers at home. I have not read any of the other reviews, I will when I finish mine, I am interested to see if anyone else shares my outrage of this place especially ""VU"", not that it matters I still will never go back there even if I'm the only one that is complaining. Waiting room has some t.v. monitor that is louder then hell, we asked if we could turn it down because of how loud it was and was playing the same thing over and over, we were told No because it automated, well then unplug the dumb thing No one wanted to hear it!!!!! We arrived at the clinic at 8:25 to a homeless man sleeping at the door with flies all over him, we thought he was dead and had to wait for him to wake up in order to get in! Totally gross!!! more

Ms vu the P.A at the Shaw walk-in medical group, is cruel, un-professional, sadistic, rude and I have NO idea how she is able to practice medicine legally. I also have NO idea why Dr Garnica has not FIRED her because Dr. Garnica is a totally cool doctor with a great bed side manner. Patients you need to be pro-active and stand up for your rights. Recently the office is making people sign documents that allow the doctors office to charge for no-shows (30$) If you desperaltey need to see the doctor and cannot afford to pay that 30$ fee, you cannot see the doctor. Thats not even legal in the state of California. I am seeking legal representation immediatley and please see the good doctor Garnica is you have to go there. He works on Thursdays only so make an appointment with him. And as for the jerk who wrote that all of the others who are complaining about the clinic are reaping what we sow? Your not very nice. These complaints are coming from very real human beings who have feelings and how dare you say such a thing! more

We are full-time RVers. My wife needed to have pre-surgery physical that would normally be done by one's primary physician, but since we travel all the time our PCP is in Texas. I went from clinic to clinic trying to find a doctor who would complete the form the surgeon gave us. I finally got to the Shaw Walk-In Medical Center. I spoke with the receptionist who listened attentively and relayed the request to Ms. Vu, the PA. Ms. Vu came out and spoke with me, understood why and what we needed and we made an appointment for my wife. more

When going in for a visit, the PAC hardly looks at me when she is talking. She talks at me not to me, and seems to get frustrated when we ask questions. I am often made to feel that my conditions are not worthy of her time more

His female colleague is the rudest, deafest, unprofessional assistant my family and I have ever encountered. She has prescribed the same ""knock you out"" cough medicine for my infant daughters, for over a year, that has not cured their cough, much less their addiction to this prescription. Her staff is rude, especially the african-american who refused me access to the office phone to call for a ride home, after they changed my 8:30 a.m. appt. to a 1 p.m. appt. She stated ""this phone is not for the public."" Well I guess she got an ""F"" in class for defining the difference between a patient and the public!! Due to Vu's lack of medical knowledge my 2 year old has endured an itching rash all over her body for 2 weeks now with the assistants prescription of ""put some moisturizer on her body"" and called it a day. AND WITH THAT I WILL SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION ELSEWHERE WITH A PROFESSION M.D. ON MY SIDE!!! Thanks Dr. Garnica for all of nothing from your Vu assistant physician.... more

I had a great consultation with Main Physician Dr. Garnica, but his female colleague was very discouraging and NOT AT ALL helpful. Issue 1) I inquired about the weight loss program and she just told me that I need to excercise and ear better and cut my portions. Well, I am 43 years old and I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING to control my weight. Just becaouse others want a quick fix doesn't mean that I am looking for one. This was the next to last straw for weight control. I am a vegeterian and I am lactose intollerant. 90% of my diet consists of soy products. I tried to inform her of this but she DID NOT listen. She told me to stop drinking soda, I DON'T DRINK SODA. Again, she didn't listen. I realize what is needed to loose and control weight, and if it was working for me I wouldn't have a need to ask my physician for help, RIGHT??? Issue 2) I am employed full time and I am paid very well. She insulted me by ASSUMING that I was on medi-cal and unable or unwilling to work. I also informed her of this. AGAIN, SHE DID NOT LISTEN. This is very disturbing and frightening. Aren't physicians responsible for reviewing their patients' records to ensure safety? I switched over to this physician and location because it was convenient for me. Well, if convenience and professionalism can't be found in one place, I would definately not recommend Shaw walk-in medical center for a personal or family practice out of convenience. I would reccomend driving the additional distance. They may be OK for urgent medical care, and that would be about it. Pros: location Cons: patient's are ""RUSHED"" through w/out being listened to. more
