Sizzling Rice Soup is to die for! 12/5/2009

Anyone who thinks the food and service is bad at Wei's has never been to China. First off, their service is polite and respectful. Don't accuse others' cultural differences as rudeness, when, in fact, you are just uneducated and inexperienced. The American way of being bothered and annoyed by servers trying to ""earn"" a big tip is the kind of service that is rude. It is a sign of respect for a Chinese person to not make eye-contact with someone in ""authority,"" and to only do what they are asked or told to do. Secondly, the food is perfectly authentic. If you don't like it, then you really don't like Chinese food. Stay away from ""real"" Chinese restaurants, and go to Panda Express or, better yet, PF Chang's. Wei's three flavors sizzling rice soup is to die for! I could eat it for every meal, every day. The only thing I wish was different is the price so I could afford to actually go everyday for every meal! I would recommend Wei's to ANYONE... especially a Chinese person. Look around when you're there, 90% of the customers are Chinese. That is the best sign you can ask for. Wei's rocks!!! I'm on my way over right now... :-) Pros: Great tasting, authentic Chinese food Cons: A little too expensive to go as often as I'd like more

sooooo greasy and gross 10/30/2009

wow wayyyyy too many green onions for the under-flavored mongolian beef. the only thing that was tolerable was the hot tea. other than that, the chicken chowmein had no flavor and was greasy and will never go back. Pros: nothing was good Cons: nasty egg rolls and greasy chowmein more

No longer worth going 5/21/2009

The ex-owner ran a tight ship. Things turned completely the the opposite direction now. For over 20 years, Wei's was THE Chinese restaurant in OC. The new owner is obviously lazy. The waiter acts like he is being waited on. Most importantly, the food isn't near what it used to be. Avoid this place. Pros: Not worth while after the ownership changed Cons: So So food, lazy people, and bad attitude more

Expensive and not very good! 9/14/2008

The a la cart pricing ranges between 9.95 and 14.95 for meat dishes, vegetable and chowmein range between 7.50 and 8.50. Portion size is below average compared to other family style restaurants. They specialize in szechwan cuisine and incorporate a lot of sour and pungent pickled flavors in most of the menu items so be careful and make sure to ask questions. If you are adventurous and enjoy taking risks this is the place for you. more

Wei's, new owners but just as great as ever! 2/20/2007

Wei's is the BEST, #1, & decent prices. During the transition they may have had a period of getting the recipes back up to their past top spot! As a long time Chinese food fan 40+ yrs, from CA to Canada I've tried a lot of Chinese places. LA, San Fran, Vancouver, china towns? At Wei's, I've never had even 1 single thing taste even slightly bad. They're across from Sports Authority off of Warner, Magnolia & the 405. I was there Valentines day. (07). Ask for Charles. They've been there 15 + yrs. They've added Orange Chicken; which if you've had their Black Bean chicken you'll find it to be equally extra tasty. Other tasty dishes= Shrimp & Sizzling Rice with sweet/sour sauce, Walnut Shrimp (uses Mayo, but worth it), Shrimp ball cakes (order 24 hr?s in advance). Wei?s is closed Mondays.\r I also recommend Yen Chings in Orange on Glassell, North of 22. I've never had 1 bad thing there either. more

No Longer The Superpower 4/20/2006

Wei's used to be the best Chinese Food around, until recently. I've heard rumors of Mr. Wei retiring, which would explain the lack of quality the food is now. The last 2 times I went, I really tasted the difference. Our family used to frequent Wei's even back when he was in Anaheim, but no more. It's just average food at average prices now. more

Go Try It 11/8/2005

This is the best CHinese food restaurant ever. I have been going since I was 7 years old and so that makes it about 16 years I have been going. The drive for me is 45 minutes and I still go eat. Try their (Tan Zhi Ro), absolute must. Also their fresh sauteed shrimp is also a must. Talking about this place makes me want to go again. Pros: Great Food, Parking, Delicious more

The Best Authentic Chinese Food 7/10/2004

If you love only broccoli beef and orange chicken, please, go to your local panda express. If you want to be a little more adventurous, ask for the Tan Zi Ro (only if you feel extra adventurous) and/or Xian Gan Ro Si (absolutely best). Please do ask for advice on what's good and be up for eating anything. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but so very good. Fresh sauteed shrimp is great as well. Pros: Quick service, Inexpensive, Good Parking more
