Call me pretentious or hate me for being one of those people who says 'Oh, the Brass? I was, like, totally going there years ago before it was cool and it was so much cooler then...' But that is pretty much how it goes. Years ago when i was but a wee lass my best friend brought me to thisplace a bar her boyfriend and his friends had been frequenting since before they were probably legally alowed to.
The joint was this cool hotel bar with a huge patio, nay--backyard with a fire pit and patio tables. The vibe was sweet, like you were all harbingers of this great undiscovered secret and we'd all shoot eachother knowing looks and nods of acknowledgement that we would keep this place forever ours. But then the herds came in and now the bar is filled with bros and thier, well, you know. It gets very crowded at night and the vibe is a scoche more meat market.
Don't get me wrong, the Brass is still a fun place to go. Old men with long hair and biker jackets play covers of even older rock songs in the main bar. Outside in an adjacent room karaoke manages to be a fun affair with a diverse crowd of everything from teeney boppers to wannabe milf's and rancheras in cowboy hats. Some nights, in the patio they still char up some burgers and sell em for a few bucks. And then there's the popcorn. Ah, the popcorn. A Brass Elephant staple. A serve yourself popcorn maker situated at the back corner of the main bar is a'poppin' all night, the last remenant a day gone by, to me. So in all it's a good place to stop off if you want to try something a little out of the ordinary. And like I said, who doesn't like popcorn?
Pros: popcorn, space, patio
Cons: parking, sometimes the people
