Nice Staff, but loud and meat-markety 1/20/2011

There are some nooks and a few crannies here. The problem is that they're filled and unmoving. I guess you have to be there early (before 9PM) to snag an alcove table. If you do... don't give it up!! We were late and forced to make do in the BIG ROOM. That's where the DJ plays tunes for the 20-something crowd that frequents the place. The music is so loud that it's impossible to talk over. I guess that's the idea, as the crowd seems like only guys and girls on the animal prowl. If they actually had to talk with each other they might find out how dumb they are. Our waitress was kind, looking out for places to sit, helping us find space for our group. She seemed a bit overworked, and probably-- judging from the age group-- undertipped. Crowded, loud, loungy, it's got decent if not exactly fresh-from-the-microwave (read LUKE WARM) quesadilla to awful calamari). There's also a nice selection of girls with parts of their dresses missing. If you like that sort of thing, this might be the place for you. It was definitely NOT the place for us. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers more

Best Place for a Party 12/24/2010

Hosted my birthday party here last month in November - great experience. Joanna was a pro and was very accomodating to my group (and my last minute event inquery). We were given a reserved area that had plenty of room for all my guests with a designated server for the evening who stayed on all us to make sure all glasses were kept full. Everyone was able to get in but I'd recommend having your guests arrive on a Friday prior to 9/10pm-ish because it got VERY crowded after 10. Great place for after-work drinks though before the crowds came. Thank you Bar 675 - I will definitely be back! more

the flooding! 10/5/2010

this place had a fun, easy vibe, unlike the surrounding spots..with that though, don't expect the best service. well drinks were average, nothing special. the music is really fun as is the layout of the place with the little nooks with tables for a small group. the big problem was the flooding! i was literally sitting for 10 min and when i got up i stepped into a puddle of water. security layed out towels on the floor but this was clearly enough for me and my friends to leave the bar. overall, it's a good go-to spot in meatpacking but bring a life vest. more

Average and Unmemorable 2/13/2010

This bar/lounge really had no memorable features. The only memorable moment may have been waiting outside in the frigid temperatures and chatting it up with the bouncer who patiently dealt with my groups shenanigans. The mixed drinks were weak and the draft beer were over-priced. Standard Manhattan fare in my opinion. None of my friends found this place to be spectacular or worth returning. The clientele was so-so but that could have also been because it was the eve of V-Day. Perhaps?! I would maybe come back here on another occasion. more

A great place to kick back and chill... 2/1/2010

I went to this bar on a Tuesday night and had a blast. The drinks and food were GOOD. In fact, before we knew it we lost track of time and were there for a few rounds. I loved the chill and laid back feel of the space. The cozy feel of the bar makes you forget that you're in NYC. Check out this place when you get a chance. Pros: Great chairs and couches to relax in while having a drink. Cons: The place gets BUSY... more

Great place but... 1/16/2010

avoid heading there between the hours of 10:30pm-12am on a Saturday! I know most people that go out in the city on a weekend expect this but for a place that is supposed to be a chill spot in the MePa District, it's the one thing that reminds you that you're in the MePa District...get there after 1am and it's still semi-packed but no line! Last Sat (1/9) and the Sat before (1/2), myself and friends of mine on both days came in around 1-1:30 and it was still fun and semi-packed and no line! Other than that issue (which becomes kinda major while waiting on a line in 15 degree weather...), it was good times! Food's pretty good, our waitress Devvi was great, DJ was pretty great (on 1/9), games to keep you entertained and if you can score a room or table, bigger bonus! I would go back! Pros: no cover, good late night spot Cons: long line, depending on the day and time more

A bar is as good as its bartender. 10/30/2009

And our bartender was a bitchy nightmare. She saw us walk up to the bar, did not acknowledge us, and walked away to finish whatever she was doing with the olives or the mint or whatever else she could find to put off the inevitable of asking us what we wanted to drink. When she finally came back towards us I greeted her with a friendly hello, how are you to which I got no response. We dared to order our drinks despite the scowl on her face. For the remainder of the evening, she didn't ask us once if we wanted another drink, despite our prominently displayed empty glasses. She seemed more preoccupied with discussing boys and hair salons with the other bartenders than doing her job. There a are lot of great dive bars in New York that will treat you like crap for half the price. more

A great place to hang out 10/2/2009

The semi private alcove rooms with retro games and pool tables make it really unique. The door staff is super friendly, and the DJ plays great beats. Overall, it's just a really cool place to hang out. I wish it were bigger, but thats part of its charm Pros: Cool alcove rooms, great staff, young, cool crowd, DJ Cons: can get super crowded more

really into this place 6/29/2009

i have always felt that the bars that do the best here in the city usually have some sort of added bonus, theme or crazy reduced pitchers involved. but there has to be something for it to work and i think this placed nailed it, at least for me. 675 bar is the perfect combination of your parent's basement mixed with your bachelor friend's apartment. board games, pool tables, cozy nooks, cheap-ish beer, nice bites to eat. the only negative is that it's in meatpacking. that's all i can think of so far. will definitely return. more

Makings of a fun evening 6/18/2009

This place is great. Went there on a Sat. night and had no hassles getting in. The staff was friendly and the drinks are very reasonably priced. But the best part was the individual rooms where each group can hang out. Each room is unique. One was like a library with couches, one had a pacman machine.....ours had board games. Or if you want you can always hang out in the general bar area as well which in itself is pretty nice. Overall '675' makes for a fun evening. Pros: The individual rooms, friendly staff Cons: None more

Editorial
  • Who says you can’t break with tradition? This MePa club is more rec room than VIP area, more relaxed than ridiculous, and more cute frat boy than B&T meathead. In short, 675 Bar is the complete antithesis of its clubby neighbors. But that doesn’t mean it’s a dive; on the contrary, the space boasts a game room, library, pool table, foosball area, and a hodgepodge of tasteful retro furniture. A menu of specialty cocktails (most in the $10 range) includes the refreshing Beggerman Thief (cachaca, celery and Chartreuse) and the spicy Algerian Typist (mezcal and harissa). Could this be the future of the Meatpacking District? We hope so.
