Best

I'd Thai Fried Rice for the first time I'd eaten at Flavor, and it's so delicious. It's not greasy at all! Pros: BYOB, Great Food!

Worst

My date and I dined here this past weekend. We saw the great reviews on city search and wanted to give it a try. When we arrived there were only 3 other tables there for dinner....

One of our favorites 12/24/2008

Best Fried Rice In Town! 11/30/2008

WOW! My husband and I are hooked!!!!!!! 6/19/2008

I had the ""Drunken Noodle"". It is a Flat noodle dish like Pad thai ot thai basil at other locations except this was a little different from any other thai dish I had had, The cut up VERY small pieces of onion, green bean, and carrots in the Thai dish with other ingreadience that gives the thai dish amazing texture and flavor! It literally explodes in your mouth with a mix of sweet, hot and richness! My Husband had the special from the sushi bar --""Sashimi Roll"", which is variety of fishes and jalapeno and wrapped with thinly peeled carrot! If you are on a NO CARB diet this is the BOMB of a dish! There is no rice in this sushi roll or seaweed! This sushi roll is served with the best peanut sauce I have ever tasted and topped with wasabi cream sauce as well. For desserts, I had ""coconut mango cheesecake"" WOW! and he had ""5-spice chocolate mousse"" beyond chocolate AND BEYOND CHEESECAKE. It was a true culinary delight! So if you are like us where we both like Thai and Sushi and want them BOTH on the same day, this is it! All of their award winning desserts are house-made, even the raspberry and mango puree, and caramel or chocolate sauces! Try it all now! Don?t forget to ask about the Waffle cookies! Dallas Morning News rated them as the best dessert in Dallas! Pros: The best sushi AND Thai chef in the Metroplex! Cons: Only one location in an up and coming neighbprhood, but worth the drive. more

BEST FOOD IN DALLAS 2/18/2008

I've been to Flavor since it's just open in the beginning of last year. I went there and celebrate my valentine's night in 2007. The food was great!--- even though it's just opened up, and not too crowded. This year, I went there again because my husband and I always love the ""Special Menu"" for the ""Special Event"" that Chef Oudi has created. It's very good valued for only $75 per COUPLE, yes I mean a couple, for these gourmet meals--- it's worth it! The foie gras's so creamy and melt in the mouth. I had chosen poached Maine lobster with Malaccan crab cake for my entree and my husband had grilled rib-eye steak with Malaccan crab cake. Both of them were so delicious! and cook to perfection! Dessert was the almond white chocolate truffle---sooo....... yummy! The decor for valentine's was so romantic too. Pros: Awesome Food, Very Friedly Service, Nice Ambience, Bright Parking Lot Cons: N/A more

Great food in an unlikely place 9/16/2007

The first time we went to Flavor, my wife and I almost didn't go in. It's located in a strip shopping center that has seen better days. We decided to give it a try, and we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. Pros: Great food, good variety of choices, reasonable prices Cons: Slow service more

Lake Highlands Find! 6/17/2007

What a great find! We started with a spicy tuna roll which was excellent. Next was the sample plate which included some exceptional dumplings. We had a few more sushi items and finished by sharing a banana crepe. more

Our new favorite place for dinner. 6/12/2007

This place just keeps getting better and better. Pros: Amazing food, BYOB. Cons: Can get VERY loud when busy. more

FABULOUS Food and presentation - best Thai in Dallas 4/8/2007

We have been trying Thai restaurants in Dallas for 20 years and have seen all the good ones slowly lose their quality. We have been looking for years for another good one to come along - and it's FINALLY here! It's a long drive from Lakewood and you have to know it's there (Skillman just north of LBJ on right), but it is sooooo worth it! My husband is extremely particular about the quality of restaurant food and therefore, hard to please. The shrimp tempura was delightful, the dipping sauce delicious and unique, and beautifully presented on the plate. The soups are made to order and the wonton is our favorite (though they're all good!), with shrimp and pork dumplings, baby bok choy, chives and cilantro. He ordered a filet mignon, which was as good as any fine steak house, cooked to perfection, served on a balsalmic vinegar reduction (sounds weird, but it was incredible), and served with perfectly grilled vegetables. I had the leg of duck in orange sauce and every mouthful was divine - a very unique preparation, as the chef had deboned it halfway and stuffed the leg with a mouth watering combination of ingredients and chopped walnuts. Our next visit was with my ""foody"" brother, and we decided to go the more traditional Thai route this visit. His garlic pork was the best thing at the table, but the yellow curry was the best Thai version I've ever had and the Pad Thai was perfect! We will definitely be regular customers and tell everyone we know. The wall is covered with all the awards the chef has won around the country, and the food showed it, for sure. We can't wait to try everything on the menu! Please don't let this jewel get away! Pros: THE FOOD!!! Presentation was also very impressive - Five Stars to the chef! Cons: Location - only word of mouth will help this restaurant out - GET THE WORD OUT! more

Wow! Fabulous! 4/1/2007

We visited Flavor for the first time this week with our grown children and grandchildren. First of all, the decor is just wonderful. It is warm and inviting and very upscale. We were warmly greeted and seated promply. We met the owner who was super nice and helpful. On her recomendation we tried the Flavor appetizer platter which included coconut calamari and schewered filet which were excellent. We decided to split some entrees and order edamame and rice for the kids, which worked out great. They were most accomodating and patient with the children. The pad thai and the orange chicken were super. The desserts were superb. The food presentation was beautiful. We were all very impressed ....from the attention to detail to the heavy nice flatware. We're telling all our friends and neighbors in Lake Highlands! Pros: Ambience Cons: Not enough people know about it! more

MUST TRY 3/26/2007

Do not underestimate Flavor just because of its location. The food is phenomenal. Everything at their dessert bar looked really yummy and pretty. I've tried some of them and they were SO GOOD! I had a tuna sushi roll for an appetizer, the fish was so fresh. My entree was Seared Ahi Tuna, it was soooo good. The best seared tuna I've had so far. Flavor is now on my top 10 restaurants in Dallas. I will definitely go back there again. The service was great, our server was very nice and knew every single dish very well. She explained all the dishes in the details. You have to give it a try. Highly recommended! Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: location, a little dark at night more

Would NEVER recommend 2/26/2007

My date and I dined here this past weekend. We saw the great reviews on city search and wanted to give it a try. When we arrived there were only 3 other tables there for dinner. When asked about the menu, our waiter knew little about the entrees and sushi. We opted not to go with the entrees since nothing sounded appetizing. We thought that we could not go wrong with sushi. Our seaweed salad was not fresh. The tuna tower was average, we had to add in our own wasabi to bring the flavor out and also finish mixing it ourself as the avocado and tuna was not mixed. The worst thing was the spider roll. The vinegar was overbarring and the soft shelled crab was not fresh. When I cleansed my palette with ginger, I still tasted the spider roll. The only thing we enjoyed was the hot tea. Let's just say that when we left the restaurant, Arby's across the street was looking rather delicious. We will never come back nor recommend this place to any one of our friends. Pros: N/A Cons: Food was not fresh, service was not knowledgable more

A good deal for a GREAT meal! 2/7/2007

If you want to impress your date/friends/family with a gourmet meal at a reasonable price take them to Flavor! The service and display of the food is impeccable. The ingredients are as fresh as they come and the dessert, well the dessert will speak for itself. For those who aren't fans of Thai dishes don't worry. Flavor's entrees include steak, lamb, and a delicious chicken breast stuffed with spinach and provolone cheese. Please give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed! Pros: Service, Display of Food, and the Desserts Cons: location not highly visable more

Everything outstanding! 2/4/2007

Flavor impresses me on so many different levels that I don't even know where to begin. The decor is very welcoming, yet modern and luxurious. Upon entering, we knew right away that we were somewhere special. The service is outstanding; we basically had two waiters the entire night making sure that everything was satisfactory. We also received visits from the chef and management checking on every aspect of our meal and even asking for a little feedback on how they can improve (there is little to no need for improvement though). The presentation and quality of the appetizers and entrees really blew us away. By far, the most impressive was the Sea Bass. We had sushi rolls for an appetizer and the freshness and taste was outstanding. Just when we thought things could not get any better, the dessert arrived (rasberry mousse with flavored sauces and the coconut-mango cheesecake) and pushed our experience from really good to incredible. When the bill came, the value of the meal really made itself apparent. For a party of four to enjoy the delicious gourmet meal that we did could easily have cost 3 or 4 times as much at similar restaurants in Dallas. Pros: Great ambience, food, service and value Cons: NONE! more

Headed for the top 10! 2/4/2007

I had watched and waited for this ?breath of fresh air? restaurant to open late last year. This is upscale Asian at very reasonable prices. On all of my visits, the staff has been extremely eager to please. While I am only 1/5th the way through the menu, my favorite so far is the drunken noodles. All of these awesome flavors mingle in our mouth. They even ask you how spicy hot you want the entree you have ordered. The sushi is magnificent, the perfect temperature and so very fresh. And OH MY GOD ? the desserts! I could eat 10 of their flan with ginger sauce and the banana spring rolls are to die for! Why drive to the uptown district when this jewel is where it is? This is definitely a must try new restaurant because you will want to return! I take my most valued customers there for lunch! Pros: Everything has been great! Cons: Non yet. more

Yummyness 2/1/2007

Was in Dallas to visit family and they took me to Flavor for lunch. The ""boat"" soup noodles were delicious and the ambiance was really posh. The sushi was really flavorful and even my picky sushi-snob sister liked it. I was so happy with my meal that I took a few friends there for dinner and we had the most amazing crispy rice salad thing, not to mention the best raspberry mousse for dessert (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like sweets). All in all, a total gem. Pros: Great ambiance, great food, very reasonably priced. more
