Review from Veggiething Dictator 7/8/2009

Since going vegan more than a decade ago, I have been on the search for the perfect pizza. Many have come close, but nothing has been nearly as delectable as the funghi pizza pie at Beretta. The crust was thin but held up well and was tinged with just the right amount of char from the ovens. The sauce had the perfect spicy sweet thing going on, and the mushrooms were earthy and rich, and the 'cheese' just brought the whole thing together in a euphoric way I could barely handle. Not since my formative years in NJ and NY have I had pizza this good. Bless you, Beretta, bless you. Pros: Best vegan pizza evah! Cons: Can be a tad loud and crowded, but maybe I'm just old :) more

P{lace was hip and also cozy 5/18/2009

Well the place is just an Italian one, and the foods are of course okay. The pizza was kind of unique and it's always served hot. Would recommend it any day. Pros: Food is just too good Cons: Too much population duh more

Delfina beware! 5/18/2009

If I was to give it stars based on food, I'd give 5 and if it was on the overall experience, I'd give 3 - the service is just horrible. The bartenders are just so backed up that it takes them 20-30 minutes to give you your cocktails while the food may almost be over. The food is great and the pizzas will give Delfina a run for their money. Order whatever pizza you'd like but definitely get the burrata on it even if you pay $4 for it. Totally worth it. I'd say this is a must try, but order your drinks in advance so you're not waiting around while the food may be getting cold. Pros: Excellent pizzas and little plates Cons: Horible service more

My Review of Beretta 12/17/2008

This is a great spot for casual, innovative Italian food. It's a festive crowd, and the cocktails are hard to beat. I have only been once but would love to go back. Pros: Good crowd, good cocktails Cons: Gets pretty busy so it's hard to get a table more

excellent prosciutto di parma pizza, dog friendly, decent service 9/5/2008

After my friend raving about the pizza, I had to try it for myself.. and let me just say, ""heavenly"".. My favorite was the prosciutto di parma, but the margherita w/ burrata was also very tasty. I also had the arugula & fennel salad, which I think had a touch of orange juice in the vinegrette, which made it burst in my mouth. And when you go, you MUST TRY the asparagus, egg & olivata appetizer. It's not enough to fill you up of course, but is so delicious!! Pros: Attractive people, clean, candle-lit, great ambiance, EXCELLENT food Cons: crowded more

Don't bother 7/25/2008

Where should I start? Let me start with our arrival. We expected to wait, being that it was a Friday night and there were four of us. However, in all the years of dining in the city or any other for that fact, I've never had a hostess ask me for my cell phone number, and tell me to go somewhere else to have a drink while we wait for a table!! I thought she was kidding, but no. I asked why would I do that, when there's a bar right here, and her reply was ""oh there's a wait for the bar"", and told me we couldn't stand around the the bar!!!. She told us that we could be seated right away in the downstairs area, which was fine. It was actually a much better alternative to waiting an hour in the main area. Unfortunately, the servers were no more pleasant than the hostess. (think personality minus). Now, on to the food. We ordered one of the bruschetta's and the gnocchi. There were four of us, and two pieces of bruschetta, which is ok, except for the fact that our server didn't mention to us that we might want to order two of them. Actually, this turned out to be a blessing, as it was not good at all. We each had Pizza's, which were ok, but definitely nothing exceptional. Certainly not worthy of a long wait for a table. Do yourself a favor, and head elsewhere. Makes me long for the Last Supper Club. Cons: Service, Food more

The Last Supper Club no longer exists :( 7/17/2008

A couple friends and I wanted to meet up for happy hour, and 'The Last Supper Club' looked ideal for the night. We showed up only to find out that a new restaurant had taken over the space :( Not a problem to find another bar/restaurant, but disappointing. Please update your site, Citysearch. more

Worst service ever. 1/18/2008

i just left the restaurant a mere 15 minutes ago and felt compelled to open a city search account just in order to write this review. walked into the last supper club without a reservation and the hostess said she could squeeze us in, for there was a table available atleast for another hour. she reassured us the kitchen was fast and so an hour was plenty. the kitchen was indeed fast, but the service horrific. we made sure to order food and drinks at once to speed our meal and the food was ok. not wonderful, but good. the red sauce there is their real winner. the thing is, our server was very unattentive to us. the last 20 minutes of our meal was spent just trying to get her attention. and then, to add insult to injury the manager approached us after this 20 minute struggle for service to tell us he needed us to leave the table. it was the most rude and inappropriate means in which i've ever seen any wait staff (or manager!) handle dining customers! needless to say we left as quickly as we could and have vowed never to return. more

I'd be happy to have my last supper here 2/26/2007

This restaurant is nearly flawless. Every time I've been there, I've left satiated and content about everything from the garlic-parsley starter that is served with the bread to their reasonably-priced desserts. Their prix-fixe Valentine's meal was heavenly. Their wine list isn't very big, but I've enjoyed every one I've tried. I HIGHLY recommend the spaghetti a la carbonara, and I don't even usually eat pork. Pros: delicious, affordable, relaxed more

Good Italian Food 12/29/2006

The antipasta sampler is great as is the seared tuna. The portions are a little bit small, so if you are ordering appetizers, entre, dessert and drinks, you're looking at an upward of $40/person. The service is great. The physical layout of the restaurant is not great for large groups, but we had a large party and the server was extremely patient. Definitely worth checking out. Pros: Great Italian food (try seared tuna), and service Cons: Parking more

Fantastic Italian Food in the Mission!!! 10/19/2006

I have been missing Italian food in the Mission for awhile, and alas, it's been here all along. I've only been once, but it's fantastic. I had the pasta with eggplant and smoked mozzarella - the mozzarella really was smoky, the pasta was al dente, and the eggplant was tasty. A lovely birbet - a sparkling wine! my first! - was wonderful. My dinner partner had the lamb with ragut over pasta and loved it. Our only complaint would be the excessive wait - it seems they forgot us at one point - but they are all very friendly, which seems to make up for it. The wait staff - plentiful - seem to be happily bustling around indifferent to waiting patrons, but somehow, you don't leave feeling mad. It's a must in the Mission. Did I mention reasonable prices? Pros: Fantastic Italian in the Mission at Reasonable Prices Cons: You may have to wait ... more

Great Food! 10/17/2006

I had dinner here on a Saturday night and thought that it was a great, fun place overall. I was a bit disappointed at first because I had made reservations and still ended up having to wait a half hour to be seated, but the wait staff was very apologetic and brought us a complementary appetizer for the inconvenience. Our waitress was really friendly and extrememly knowledgeable about the menu which changes monthly. The food was delicious, I was with a party of 4 and everyone was extrelemy happy with what they had ordered. Dessert was also superb. Just plan on having a drink at the bar before eating because it is a relatively small space and seems to be crowded most of the time. more

Great Place for Food, Drinks and Socializing 10/15/2006

Went here a couple of years ago and thought okay, fun place, mediocre food. Went back Saturday night and the food came up a few notches. I agree with reviewer sfgal35, the food was incredible (similar to what we had in Southern Italy). We were four and ordered 8 or 9 different things and enjoyed everything we ate. Liked it so much that night that we went back for brunch on Sunday before we headed back home. That too was awesome. Pros: Great Italian food and wines Cons: A bit trendy, very crowded more

Fun. Fun. And Fabulous! 9/29/2006

EXCELLENT! 9/28/2006

We've gone to this place a half-a-dozen times over the last year and this restaurant produces some of the best Italian food we have ever had here, in the Bay Area. We have been to the other restaurants owned by the same but find this overall to have it all - delicious food, sophisticated wine list, lively atmosphere, attentive and most importantly knowlegable waiters. Between the five of us, we ordered about 10 different dishes - appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees. The dishes were very original - more like what we found traveling throughout Italy than what we find here in the states. We enjoyed the casual dining, with the dishes being served family style so that we could all share. Pros: Great food, Interesting wine list, fun atmosphere Cons: Noisy at the later hours, parking more

Horrible Service 9/17/2006

I went here for my friends 21st birthday and had the worst experience. Our waitress had a horrible adittude! She walked away from our table 5 times in the middle of us trying to order. She was clearly stereotyping us because we were younger. Cons: bad service more

New Ownership = Never Again Returning 8/29/2006

This is my first review on citysearch, and I'm only doing it because I'm furious. The Last Supper Club used to be one of my favorite mission upscale eateries. Then, new owners came in, gutted the menu, raised the prices and had the nerve to try and do it with a smile. Pros: If I had to pick: ambience, service Cons: Food, food, food more
