Just complete the course this weekend and let me tell you its was the BEST money spent hands down!! She may not be the prettiest building but don't judge a book by its cover . In that building are some of the most dedicated instructors I have ever been around. You are not going to practice in their parking lot but at knights of Columbus hall parking lot less than 5 mins away and its big. They provided ice water and encourage you to drink plenty. These guys really care about their students safety on and off the range.\r My skill level was a negative zero if that possible I didn't know where the key went and a hint its on the left front side of motor. The class progress TOGETHER not good rider here and novice here and that alone sealed the deal. After only 2 days I am confident to ride but know I have a lot of practice ahead of me before taking on major traffic. The foundation they lay down for you is priceless. Mistakes will be made over and over believe me Ian (instructor) gave me the name Flintstone cause I have the BAD habit of dragging my boot heel when stopping and COVERING THE BRAKE!! These guys are not looking to fail you cause they already have your money but to teach you the basic fundament to bike riding. DONT WASTE YOU $$ ELSE WHERE I have never review or endorse anything but this is worth it. If the people from SWMT are reading this I cant thank you all enough the PATIENCES and the ability understand the frustration and anxiety the beginner rider goes thru. Vince thank you for everything Ian give yourself a little more cushion when braking LOL !! more

Initially I made a mistake when I went for my M endorsement: simply put, I chose the wrong school (near Graham Central station, AVOID IT). After learning the level of fail from the instructors there, I did some research online and discovered this place....and wished a million times over that I'd gone here in the first place. Not only are the instructors highly experienced (my class was taught by Ian and Vince), but they help you learn so many things that will help you become a better rider. This isn't just *a* motorcycle school in San Antonio, this is *the* school. If you're not going here, you're not doing it right. more

I had the pleasure of taking the motorcycle safety course over Saturday and Sunday with Vince and Ian. Instructors are experienced and encouraging. Would highly recommend course to anyone with experience riding, or with no experience. more

This is a fun class. Had a bad experience at another school but not here. Although I recommend if you have not ridden a bicycle in years or have never been on a motorcycle, I recommend practicing a couple of weeks before taking this class. It is hard enough to try to balance and learn to lean without learning to shift and brake at the same time with NO experience. The experience will be so much better and then you should pass with no problems. I passed and the next day had my license. Thank you Vince and Ian! more

I cant begin to explain enough how 5/27/2012

I cant begin to explain enough how important motorcycle safety is, and with Guys like Vince and Ron instructing, you will learn just how crucial safety and knowledge is to being a great rider or simply improving on your skills.I came into this class with a high technical understanding of how motorcycles work and how we as riders interact with them and how they in turn interact with the road.I had minimal riding experience aside from tooling around on a couple friends bikes in and around the neighborhood, and after working with Vince and Ron over the course of a mere two days i feel like not only has my technical knowledge increased but so has my hands on competency as well!! These guys work with you in a way which is specific to your style and skill level and at no time do they make you feel inadequate or too ""green"" they look at you and your technique and evaluate them HONESTLY and return to you immediately after each run with positive enforcement and encouragement for EXACTLY what you did correctly. Vince and Ron also give you advice and spot on coaching for the inconsistencies. This is all done in their own individual and distinct ways. They don't just speak from behind a bullhorn they actually get out and execute the training and walk you through each portion until THEY feel you are ready to move on to the next level!!! I speak from experience( I'm STILL LEANING and pressing and rolling, Vince). Between the Vince and Ron and the owners there is over fifty years of riding experience and know how to be absorbed. And after so many years riding and Instructing they still manage to make each course an an individual and fun experience that feels personalized to your needs, bear in mind that there are 9 others in this class with you! Now THAT is TRAINING!!! If you want to become a better rider or simply learn to ride, call these guys up and be prepared to learn to be a safer and more capable BIKER!! A++++ Rakim aka ""ROCK"" more

Great experience 3/16/2012

This is the cheapest class in town I believe and only two days long. The instructor is great, quite a character(funny) and has been riding for over a decade so has a wealth of knowledge/experience to share. I could imagine it gets repetitive teaching the same class over and over but he still seemed passionate and professional from start to end. See some reviews complaining about the riding range(parking lot). There are no restrooms and the surface is a little rough(loose gravel/sand and a pot hole or two) but I would honestly rather practice in these conditions which simulate the third-world roads we have here in San Antonio. I think it builds more experience & confidence than it would on brand-new, perfect pavement. The bikes were in fairly decent shape for as much as I'm sure they've been through. Overall I learned a lot, met some cool folks and had a fun time. Ride safe! more

A great school with great instructors. 11/29/2011

I can't begin to tell you how much I think of Vince and Ian. I went thru their course the first weekend after Thanksgiving day and was dead tired after working a bunch of hours in my security job. That said, I was able to get thru the course all in one piece and actually pass. I owe a lot to Vince and Ian for their wonderful patience. I've been wanting to get my motor endorsement back, even though it's been a long time since I've been on a motor. Vince and Ian have gone a long way in making this possible. I very highly recommend this school. You might find fancier facilities, but you won't find better people than Vince and Ian to study and learn with. On top of that, they are pretty funny guys to be around. My thanks to Lisa, as well, for getting me in while the blood was still hot.....ha!! ha!! more

Awesome school!!!! 6/26/2011

Trainers are excellent! Very funny, class time is not boring. Really take a lot of time to train you and not get annoyed if you're having problems. I would recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn how to ride. They were so helpful I was able to take my bike out that night after the first day of training. more

Great People 4/25/2011

I have been riding on the back of others bikes for quite sometime and decided that I wanted to be in front. I searched the web and found these guys. They were both very informative and fun. They made two days in the hot sun worth it. They were supportive and patient. I really enjoyed learning with them and feel confident I will be the one in front before to long. Just need practice. Thanks alot to Vince and Ian for Making this a unique learning experience. I would definatly reccommend them to any one wishing to learn how to ride a bike. Even if youve never been on one. Its a great feeling. more

Great Folks! Great Training 2/20/2011

Riding some as a teen, you think sitting on a cycle again things will come back to you but not much did. Not a factor at this school with these instructors. We had a mixed class, first time riders to some experience. Everyone learned at the same progressive pace and we all received the individual instruction essential to the foundation of a safe rider. The instructors keep the environment very low stress while conveying the risk and consequences of failing to be a safe rider. Essential to the low stress environment is the instructors sense of humor so bring yours with you. I spent my two days learning laughing and smiling, walking away with what I need to begin riding. Additionally I know where my sons will go to learn and where I will return for the experienced rider course in a few years. The classroom is stocked with snacks you can purchase, breaks are at perfect intervals. The range is a parking lot (where else you gonna learn), within a 100 yds is a convenience store for anything you may need. Again with plenty of breaks. If you already own a specific type of bike the instructors try to put you on something very similar making the transition to your own bike a bit smoother. Otherwise they put you on a bike best fits your weight height and stature. Owner and instructors dont pull up cars they ride in. Looking to get your license get an insurance discount etc see these guys. You will get a great riding foundation from experienced riders who know riding needs to be safe, should be fun and learning should too. Thanks guys more

I recommend Southwest Motorcycle Training 11/26/2008

I just wanted to say thank you, I went into this class not knowing what to expect. All I knew is that I wanted to feel comfortable on a motorcycle. Being in a class of those who had no previous experience and a couple who were there to refresh their riding skills, we all learned at the same pace. It was fun and informative. Our instructor was witty and informative, he had his own style and manner of teaching that made you feel comfortable. All motorcycles were ready for us to start riding at the range the first day with no problems. I took this course on a wednesday & thursday and went to DPS on friday to take the written test, since it was fresh on my mind and I passed. I just got my CM license, it was worth it. I recommend all those who are wanting to ride a motorcycle to take a basic riding course for your safety and for the insurance discount. You get your money's worth. I recommend Southwest Motorcycle Training because they are good people that want to help and they are the least expensive in San Antonio. Pros: Easy to find, plenty of parking space, If you need a snack during break sessions they have plenty of snacks and drinks to buy more

Great job, guys! 9/3/2006

Lisa was helpful and informative while helping me sign up for the course. Our course material was accurate, helpful and complete. We had two excellent instructors for our class of 8 students. The experience levels for the students ranged from some who had never ridden a motorcycle to one who had ten years of dirt riding experience. All eight of the bikes we rode were lined up and running, and waiting for us when we arrived at the riding range. They all performed flawlessly throughout the course. All of the students successfully passed the written test and the final riding evaluation, which was administered by both instructors as well as the owner of the school. more

Poor Facilities and Lots of Excuses 5/29/2006

Great instructors. Poor facilities and equipment. We signed up to use scooters for the course. Only one worked. my daughter had to use a motorcycle instead. Ended up using our personal scooter instead. Lots of excuses from owners, but no results nor apologies. No restroom facilities nor running water. Pros: location, instruction Cons: equipment, facilities, owner attitude more
