My husband and I were visiting Nashville and wanted to take our friend out for her first experience with Vietnamese food. We live in Oak Ridge, TN so am not too familiar with this area...so we took a chance! Boy...was I disappointed. We ordered Pho (Beef Noodle Soup) for my friend, my husband had Com Xuon, Bi, Trung, Dau Hu Ky (Rice with pork chops, shredded Pork Skin, fried egg and fried tofu), and I had Mi Xao Don Do Bien (Crispy Fried egg noodles with seafood). For appetizers we had Cha Gio (Egg Rolls) and Goi Cuon (Spring Roll)...these were OK.\r
\r
The Pho broth was very, very sweet....too much sugar or MSG or both. The Xuon (pork chops) had char siu (red seasoning used in Chinese cooking) seasoning on it and it also was too sweet. And my Mi Xao came out cold with three shrimps, three pieces of squid and lots of vegetable...it too was too sweet. Everything was too sweet...if you don't know the difference between Vietnamese food this place is decent, but if you know the difference this place is horrible!\r

The server brought out two bowls of Pho, when we only ordered one bowl. So, the server who took our order came to the table and was mad and convinced that we ordered to bowls. It was very intimidating because he just stood there and looked at me...like how dare you send this bowl back!\r
I am use to most Vietnamese restaurants having ""blunt"" service, meaning order your food, eat and leave but this guy was just plan RUDE.\r
\r
The atmosphere was horrible in there and it had a very bad smell...I would rather go to a place that played loud Vietnamese music...it was so quit in there.\r
\r
There are several other Vietnamese resturants very nearby and next time I will try out Kien Giang even if the dont accept credit cards. \r
\r
What gives me the right to judge this restaurant? I am Vietnamese and have had my fair share of Vietnamese food and I spoke Vietnamese to the server when I ordered the food for the table. \r
