Fantastic Veterinarians**Really love animals 1/16/2012

I had to take my male cat to The Animal Clinic after he had been to the ER at Rivergate the night before. He was experiencing urinary tract problems and was ""blocked."" The ER closed and I had to take him to our vet, which is The Animal Clinic. Everyone I dealt with at the Animal Clinic was very professional, caring and knowledgeable. The receptionists were very compassionate and kind and made me feel comfortable and put me and my sick kitty in an examination room immediately. The doctor came in, read the paperwork from the ER and examined my kitty and sent us home with instructions to come back in 2 days, on a Monday. The veterinarian treated my kitty as if he was her own cat and she was very thorough and considerate. We went back in a couple of days and at that point, my cat wasn't eating and the doctor didn't feel the catheter needed to be removed yet. They kept him a few days, taking excellent care of him and he recovered nicely and they changed my cat's diet to a bladder health formula by Hill's that is only available thru prescription. I am well pleased and while this might not be the cheapest place to take my animals, it's the BEST place, in my opinion. I have asked around and whenever The Animal Clinic's name comes up, it's always good. I cannot say that for any of the other veterinarians in the Hendersonville or Gallatin area. Kudos to an excellent group of doctors and technicians! more

Big fan! 10/28/2010

We've been using The Animal Clinic for about 20 years now. We currently have 3 large senior dogs (and 1 small senior) in our household. I've worked with many of the local clinics professionally at the shelter, and with this clinic for my own pets. I would hands down highly recommend Doctors Flatt, Shannon and Duke "in a heartbeat"!\r \r When my dog was diagnosed with epilepsy 8 or 9 years ago, Dr. Flatt went the extra mile with me on research and finding the best options for treatment for him. \r \r After some research on epileptic dogs at the Epi Guardian Angels site, at my request we sent blood samples to a consulting research lab and epi dog researcher in California, Dr. Dodds (Not all vets would go this extra mile with a client). Dr. Dodds confirmed indeed that Dr. Flatt had prescribed the best course of treatment and I could be confident that he was in the best of hands.\r \r Over the years, both Dr. Flatt and Dr. Shannon have earned my respect again and again. I've never been tre more

Average clinic with overpriced fees 3/21/2008

I took my cat to this clinic simply because it was the one closest to my home, and I wanted to limit the amount of time my cat had to ride in the car (because she hates it.) One thing that is neat is that they have 2 entrance doors - one for dogs, and one for cats. This is nice because cats waiting don't have to be in the same room as dogs. We usually went there for vaccinations and grooming. The vaccinations I thought were overpriced compared to other clinics. The grooming, however, was great. I liked to get my cat's fur completely shaved a few times a year because she had a very thick undercoat that would always get matted, and she was always groomed very evenly. However, I no longer go to this clinic anymore because my cat got cancer and I felt like they didn't try to help her at all. After she was diagnosed, they told me I could take her to UT Knoxville (which would cost around $3,000) or I could just basically wait for her to die. I couldn't afford to take her to Knoxville, so we just tried to give her the most comfortable life possibly in her time left. Her health aggressively got worse over the next 3 months, and we ended up taking her back there to see if there was ANYTHING they could do at all, and they just recommended we put her to sleep because they couldn't help her at all . . . and we made the decision to do that because she was suffering quite a bit, and if they couldn't help her, well, we sure couldn't either. I know it isn't necessarily their fault that they couldn't help her - I know they're not a full animal hospital, but I feel like they could have at least done something, ya know? Also, the amount we were charged for her final office visit and euthanasia was ridiculous. This isn't a bad clinic by any means, but I don't feel that they went out of their way to try to help my kitty. Pros: Separate entrance door and waiting area for cats, great grooming services Cons: Everything is overpriced compared to other clinics more

Experience & Wisdom 11/29/2006

My 8 year old Boxer was diagnosed w/ Irritable bowel Syndrome 2-3 years ago. A recent excacerbation sent us to the vet. She was having a hard time keeping anything down & lethargic. We have had this happen a few times in the past. Dr. Flatt examined her on a walk in basis & made a plan. One of the labs came back abnormal. This, too, has happened in the past but vets have always said it would correct with fluids (Na, K ratio). Well, he decided to look a little further. Ran another lab (cortisol challenge), and turns out she has Addison's. She has been doing great ever since being put on the appropriate medications! Thanks to Dr. Flatt for digging a little deeper as all, human and canine, practitioners should! Highly recommended! more

Groomer @ The Animal Clinic 9/26/2006

First and last visit today. My dog arrived at 6:30 AM for grooming service. 12:30 PM, I called to see why we had received no call to come and pick up "Elvis". Groomer said that it would be at the very least, two more hours. I expressed my dissatisfaction at the length of time involved, requiring "Elvis" to be caged for this amount of time. Groomer called me back and chastised me for my call, saying they "didn't deserve" to be hung up on and to come and get my dog that they refused to finish him. PROS: Schedule person was very sweet and professional. CONS: more
