The Armpit of Mr. Universe 12/19/2011

If it were possible to rate this location 0 stars, I would! This place is nothing short of a dump! Decrepit, worn and broken down...how they manage to rook unsuspecting people into joining, I will never know. Personally, I have a lifetime, no-fee membership that I purchased eons ago as part of a pre-construction deal. Otherwise, there is NO WAY I would ever pay a red cent to workout here. Currently, this club is in the process of ramping down operations. This is what Bally's does when a property gets old - NOTHING! They let everything run down, eliminate fitness classes, charge for those that had been free, cut down hours, refer members to other Bally's locations and become unresponsive to member complaints, directing them to Bally's corporate office number where a human bring is yet to be found. A manager with a most unfriendly disposition yells at members to get out of the pool area as if we are a bunch of bad school children (vs. paying adults). Then, he sits at the front desk with his feet up on the counter waiting for closing time. Apparently, Bally's is happy with his performance (or lack of it) as he continues to carry on in this most pathetic display of neolithic behavior. Bottom line, everything in this club is broken, missing and decrepit. YUK! It has been reported to the Board of Health many times over the years. Yet, despite moldy ceiling tiles and grunge on the pool deck, they are more than happy to steal your money and keep deducting it from your linked account. Google ""Bally's complaints"" to see over 50,000 of them! more

Seriously out-dated but has what you need to workout 8/27/2010

The earlier review is dead-on. This place is like a walk back in time. However, they have what you need to get a workout and they keep it clean, except, the locker room/shower areas are horrible. I normally go to Maple Shade or Voorhees and they are much nicer. So, ok to go but don't expect the hip modern atmosphere of new gyms. more

Bally's Total Fitness - Don't waste your time... equipment dates from the time you were in grade school. Seriously. 10/5/2007

You gotta be kidding me... this place is a dump.\r \r Machines are at least 10 years old and nothing is logically placed. the track inside the gym is a joke... running around a bunch of weight machines... what a joke!\r \r the thing this place has going for it is its staff and some of the clients here. the staff is amazingly nice. the people who go here are loyalists (or just stuck w/ the contract). the staff doesn't hassle you about signing up or anything... just go on in, try it out and sign up if you like. easy as that! this gym surely cannot compete with LA fitness across the street. The LA fitness is brand spanking new... new equipment, new working center, everything. Bally's talks about remodeling their bathrooms, but what are you at a gym for - working out or checking yourself and neighbor out in the ""modern"" bathroom???!?!?! Honestly, Bally's employees, if you're reading this, spend money where it matters - your equipment.\r \r Once again, old equipment - look at the rust and dust collecting on them! Weight machines are about 10 years old, free weights are at least 20 years old, if not older. Cardio stuff - newer... and soon enough, a brand spanking new bathroom where you can check out your fellow same-sex (not that there's a problem with that) workout buddy!\r \r Great staff... i commend you Bally's for this. Good hiring! Lousy equipment. But Great Staff. Pros: Great staff - super friendly, no hassle Cons: Equipment at least 10+ years old... and they're spending money to upgrade the bathroom???? more

  • The Scene
Most Ballys stick to the basics for their design. Televisions broadcast silently above multiple rows of cardio machines; mirrored walls act as the primary decorative components....
