Fun for All 1/17/2006

Rarely will you find an amusement park that has been in operation for 100 years. Oaks Amusement Park goes back that far. The grounds are huge and there are many nice places for picnicking including some reservable areas. There are modern thrill rides and also a large wooden skating rink. This place is a child's' dream come true. more

Nice little amusement park 12/31/2005

This place is looking a little rickety and it isn't as cheap as it used to be to enjoy the rides, but it still has a certain charm and nostalgia to it. I remember going here as a kid and it is fun to take my kids there now. The highlight for sure was the roller skating rink. That is a blast from the past and is well worth the money. The carnival games are pretty forgettable, but there are some fun rides that can get you warmed up for Disneyland, such as the spinning teacups and the rollercoaster. A fun day out for the family - just don't expect "too" much! more

Nice Smaller Amusement Park 12/27/2005

Oaks Park is a smaller older style amusement park that feels more like a fair. It is beautifully located along the Willamette River with picnicking sites available along the shoreline. They have an old style skating rink and fun kid programs there during the week. While they do have a few thrill rides, most of them are for the younger set. A great place for a family or company picnic. more

Close as we can get to amusement parks 12/20/2005

The south and east sure have us beat as far as amusement parks go. If only we could get a six flags.... alas we have such mini amusement parks like Oaks. I personally like the all wood skating rink, with the rolling hills floor in the back. The kids enjoy the rides when they are open. That's the con, in the northwest weather, it can only operate during a certain season. It closes early Oct, and opens back up for spring break, then only on weekends untill summer. Price is pretty good though. It's free to get into the gate, then you can buy ride bracelets for $11, and $14. more

OK Amusment Park 12/17/2005

Oaks park is not as fun as I remember it being when I was a young kid. The place is a lot smaller and the rides seem more jammed together. There were a few rides that I was really looking forward to taking my kids on that are no longer even there. They have a smaller rollercoaster for young kids and during the changing of riders, the people who work there were kicking some wooden blocks underneith the track. It dosent seem like they keep the place up to par. The prices seem kinda excessive for what they offer. We went during a buy one ride bracelet get one free so the price wasnt that bad. They also had buy one get on free for stuff like hotdogs and corndogs and cotton candy ect. One good things was the carnival games they had, they wernt way over priced and they really give you alot of chances for the little ones to win prizes.Overall, Oaks Park is a fun place for the family to go and spend the day together. more

Good family fun 10/5/2005

When I was a kid, nothing could beat this place. There were good rides for kids, as well as a good selection of what I thought were scary rides. Being older, Oaks Park doesn't compare to Six Flags or Disneyland, as there are no giant roller coasters or big budget rides. This is still a great location to go with the family, however, and everyone should be able to find something they enjoy, from "thrill rides" to kids rides. There are also go-carts & an ice skating rink on the property. more

Fun place for kids! 9/23/2005

This is a fun place for kids ias long as you aren't expecting Disney-quality rides! We took our two small kids to Oaks Park for the very first time the other day - they run a special program during the summer on select days just for preschoolers - $5 unlmited rides for 2 hours and then a storytime session accompanied by cookies and milk. My kids both loved the carousel and the little train, but heck - you can do that at Clackamas Town Center Mall. They also liked the teacup ride, which was good preparation for Disneyland, and the Frogger. There were several other rides, but maybe my kids (4 and 2) were a little young to be interested. The rides do look a little worn and shabby, but at least they seemed clean. We also went roller skating, which was the most fun of all and definitely worth the money. Overall, you should check out Oaks Park if you get a deal on the rides, bring your own food and don't have super high expectations for the quality of the rides. more

Fun, fun, fun! 9/23/2005

My children love going to Oaks Amusement Park! They have many different rides (even for younger kids too!) and a roller skating rink. It can be expensive, unless you find a coupon or they are running a special. They do have specials fairly often. You can find out about them in the Portland Family Magazine. Every summer the Beaverton Library has a childrens reading program and when the child finishes they get a bag of goodies. This bag includes a discount to Oaks Amusement Park that allows you to ride all of the rides and skate for only $2! My children look forward to this every year! more

Oregon's Only theme Park 8/17/2005

A Portland staple, Oaks Park amusement park has been operating in the Sellwood district for decades. It features fun rides for the young ones as well as a skating rink. As far as theme parks go it leaves a little to be desired, there are not too many rides, but there are enough to keep the kids entertained. more

Have fun! 7/14/2005

Oaks Park is so much fun and even though I haven't been there in the last couple years, I still have memories that are positive about my experience with this place. The food is good and the rides are great for the type of amusement the park is trying to offer. Bring the kids and get over to Oaks Park and give them lasting memories that they will cherish forever! more
