Crocker Art Museum 4/14/2006

Crocker Art Museum is located in Downtown Sacramento and many people have not heard about this amazing place. For a mere $3-$8 you can take a look back at some of the major paintings from Van Gogh early 19th century works. Paintings are represented from all over the world; America, Netherlands, Germany, and many others. It was interesting to see how the museum was divided which included; art works of a certain time period to upcoming artists today. I attended this art museum because of my art class, but I felt like I got more out of it then just the entrance fee. The tour guide was really nice as was everyone else working in their. I recommend everyone go see some of the paintings before they disappear. more

Some modern stuff too! 3/29/2006

This museum is a wonderful art gallery with a rich history in the Sacramento area. The Crocker family was very influential in their time. This museum is a collection of different works, from modern to classical. They have exhibits that rotate frequently, and they'll have "guest exhibits" as well, so it's worth it to go several times a year. The gift shop is a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts for art lovers. more

Culture everywhere! 9/28/2005

This is a great musuem. The Crockers were a great family with a really colorful history. Parts of the collection change frequently, and there are some more permanent pieces. There are some paintings that are replicas though, look for the small descriptions telling you. Great artwork - especially on the second floor! more

Pleasant museum 8/19/2005

This is a very nice museum, probably not meant for the kids. It's got some famous paintings, all of which are by various artists. It's got a long history and a lot of the paintings there are very famous ones. It's a great 1-day trip with your colleagues or your spouse. Try not to take the kids as it's not a very kid-friendly environment! There is a great gift shop too. more

Art Galore 8/19/2005

The Crocker Art Museum, located in downtown Sacramento, is a wonderful fusion of modern and classic art. Situated in the elegant Crocker Manor, the different floors display an abundant number of different styles of art. Although most exhibits are those of classical art, Crocker Art Museum often exhibits new modern artwork that changes every few weeks. Although many schools do go on field trips there, you can easily avoid crowds at the Crocker Art Museum on Sundays, where admission is also free. more

Awesome Art! 8/18/2005

The Crocker Art Museum is the soul of the Sacramento Art Scene. Located downtown it is a place to enjoy classical and modern art. Although old the Crocker is maintained and in great shape. inside the wooden staircase shines and the art surrounds you. Both floors of the Crocker offer something different and special. Schools are often doing field trips there so make sure to call ahead so you know if there will be a crowd. Also, there are book discussions and panels there, so check it out today. more

Crocker Art Musuem 8/8/2005

Crocker Art Museum is one of Sacramento's most well known art establishements. It is located at the old Crocker Mansion and adjacent to Crocker Park in downtown Sacramento. The exhibits change, but the main central art stays the same. The museum features more classical artwork than modern works. The mansion itself is really a piece of artwork. The museum can get really crowded on weekends, and parking can sometimes be an issue. There is metered parking on adjacent streets. I would not recommend the art museum for younger children because most younger children would be easily bored, and there are lots of stairways and railings that you have to watch out for. more

Great Exhibits to learn Art History 7/12/2005

I know a lot of people from Sacramento that don't spend that much time at the galleries in town which we have a ton. Crocker is one of the best it has such a wide spectrum of art, a lot of local artists and California artists. Also during the year they do have Jazz Concerts in the adjacent Crocker Park which usually has a outdoor art exhibit. Its a great deal and a great family outing. more
