Gameworks is a really fun place to go for family, for teenagers, as a group of friends, to hold an event, as a couple out on a date, or even by yourself looking for some fun and possibly meeting someone in the after hours.
This 2-floor location features an arcade with a great selection and diversity in games, a resturant, and a bar. It is located in just about the center of the Valley at the Arizona Mills Mall which not only has great stores to shop at but Harkins Theatres 24, IMAZ theatre as well as a food court.
The Aracade is laid out on both floors of Gameworks.
The bottom floor has the redemption games and the prize counter which has amazing prices to be won everything from candy, small kid toys/bracelets, etc, to game boys, playstations, dvd's. There are also the ride games that move you straight up and down two floors as you battle up to 4 friends. These game rides are definitly a must try! The bottom floor also has from time to time the bull ride, or motion rides. There is the pit area where the car racing rides are lcoated, a shooting area where all the shooting games are located. and a game that is motion detected to make you move your character around! The Dance Dance Revolution game is located at the mall entrance and has a black light feature.
While the prices for games are on the higher end the atmosphere that you are playing them in is worth the money that you pay to play. Who wouldn't want to be in an ongoing never ending night-life atmosphere of fun and games?
The upper floor is where the resturant and bar are located as well as a large screened Tekken game, the retro oldies games such as pac-man, donkey kong, and the 10 person car racing game that features you racing against other players and announcer and television coverage!
Upstairs there is also a comfy lounging room set aside for those 21 and older to lounge in, it's a bit more quiet in that room so that more in depth conversations can take place and there are large windows so that you still get the feel of a night club.
While the resturant is a bit on the pricey side for the quality of the food, it allows you to stay in the night-life atmosphere that Gameworks has all-day long. The bar has two pool tables and has large windows set above the pit area to oversee the fun. All of Gameworks is extremely dimmed by light and there is constant stream of music being played accompanied by music videos.
Gameworks has a ladies night feature where Ladies come and play for a time period cheaper than on other nights. There is also a curfew age limit after certain hours so that the late evenings can be curtailed towards the older crowd.
I would recommend that families come during the day time and up into the early evening, as after 10pm the age limit is 18 and up.
Tempe is a University town and this place is one of the top places to hang out on and have some fun in the evenings on the weekends.
