Ming, the owner of Miso Japanese restaurant said in a New Haven Advocate interview (where his restaurant won a category for the first time in seven years), that he opened up Miso because "there were no good Japanese restaurants in New Haven." Interestingly, in the seven years that Miso has been open it has only one Advocate award and no major reviews. Humility can be a bitter pill to swallow. My favorite Japanese restaurant, Sono Bana, has quietly won numerous accolades without being remotely snobby. From the Japanese culture, Ming can learn humility, modesty...and definitely how to cook a little better.
