Great if you're looking for current fashions at bargain prices (compared to brand new, of course). A really sad, small and overpriced selection of vintage, though. Cashiers can b...

Helpful Staff, Dirty Laundry in the ""Sell"" Line 9/6/2011

I went to Buffalo Exchange to sell. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I went away with an empty clothing box and pocket full of cash. Mission Accomplished! The one drawback: there was a long line, and the other people in line - a motley looking group - came with bags and bags full of crumpled-up clothing that looked like it hadn't been washed. Most of it went in the donation bin, and I felt like the people with the bags of dirty laundry were really wasting everyone's time. I'll probably go back, but will make sure to have a couple cocktails first. more

awesome clothing, bad prices and bad service 2/8/2010

i have found some really awesome stuff at buffalo exchange, but the prices are ridiculous for being second-hand used items. i can go elsewhere and find brand new clothing for cheaper. the employees here are rude and give off the persona that they're better than anyone and are quick to judge. Pros: great clothing finds Cons: the prices are too high more

Why pay retail? 1/21/2010

I'm a guy and I love shopping. I always come here wishing I had a bit more money to buy what I want. Mostly always a good selection. Most of the staff are friendly and fun to talk to. For the people who complain about parking, take public transportation. There's no reason to drive in a city anyway. Pros: Awesome clothes, mostly nice staff, cheaper than new Cons: Too much Abercrombie and Hollister more

ok place 12/30/2009

Went shopping to Dunedin to cute little shops like Darling Memories,Amanda Austin and Rose Garden. Everyone in these shope were nice and welcoming. I wanted to end my shopping experience with a nice cup of Java. Pros: lots of selection Cons: too expensive for used stuff.parking is a pain more

Not my favorite... 8/24/2008

They do have unique clothing here but they definately like hand me downs, especially the shoe selection. I usually have to spend a good amount of time there to find even one item that is worth buying. To make the experience even worse,,,the customer service is terrible. It's also hard to find parking in this area especially on a weekend. Not may favorite place to shop... Pros: Wide Selection, Not Overly Crowded Cons: Parking, Service, Location more

Cool clothes, but so so so SO Corporate. You disappoint me. 8/6/2008

Awesome selection, in fact one of my fav thrift stores in portland, but you sold out. And why is every staff member a hickdead (think about it if you don't get it at first) ?Thank god there are still goodwill and salvation army stores scattered across town. more

Blehh. 4/27/2008

I was totally unimpressed with this store. Pros: Nothing Cons: Over-priced, Bad customer service more

Buffalo Exchange, a face to remember. 3/1/2008

The three times I have shopped at Buffalo Exchange have all been at the W. Burnside store, downtown. I had just moved from Eugene to Portland and needed shirts and a pair of jeans. On the third visit, I was approached by a young lady after I had been in the store for about 2 minutes. She looked at me for a second and then asked me ""what are you doing here?"" By the look on my face she knew I did not understand what she meant so she said ""we told you you are not to come back in here."" I was surprised and told her that no one had ever said that to me but she insisted they had. I asked when this happened and was told about a year ago. I was not living in Portland a year ago and said so. I tried to ask for the name of the person they 86'd and what they had done but was told it was confidential. The friend with me repeated the fact I was not living in Portland at that time, did nothing to change this scenario and we were told to leave. This is one of the most ignorant, unjustified moments I have been through. She would not even consider taking my name to compare it to whoever she thought I was! I guess she is never wrong. We left upset for being treated in this manner and having no avenue to refute her claims. It's a shame at the very least. I have never been asked to leave any store, restaurant, public place before or since! As a manager myself, I cannot fathom(if I was her) not giving someone the benefit of the doubt by at least looking at ID and checking it against a no tresspassing list, just to be sure. She did claim to be the on-site manager. Since this incedent, friends and I support Red Light Clothing and other resale clothing shops. In this day & age, there is no room for this kind of mismanagement & disregard. I truly hope no one else has it happen to them. Mistaken identity happens all the time but to take it to this level without even trying to determine the truth is a down-right shame. All of us, no matter who we are deserve to be treated better than this. more

Friendly staff great prices 12/8/2007

I love the staff at the buffalo exchange, they are very helpful and always nice. The buffalo exchange has great clothes, shoes, and accessories! I used to buy tons of clothes there but lately as money is tight I can either trade my clothes for cash or trade my clothes for other clothes. I love their eclectic variety and would highly recommend you check it out. It saves tons of time from going store to store in the mall at a third of the price for this month/years merchandise. Plus they also take vintage items. Plus, other stores are in the area so it is convenient (i.e. powell's fred meyer etc). more

Staff not knowledgeable 10/14/2007

We were pretty unhappy with this location! Pros: tons of variety, super hip Cons: No parking, over priced, too super hip more

alway good finds. 9/7/2007

I personally think this location trumps burnside's but it may be personal style. Shirts are plentiful here and pants are as well. It's hard to leave this location empty handed and their buyers are much less picky than the burnside store. Pros: good variety Cons: too crowded to breathe sometimes more

You'll always find something 5/25/2007

Like all used clothing stores, finding that perfect thing is hard. But it seems like I almost always find something here. The selection is always good, the clothing is usually in good condition, the staff is helpful, and the prices are always fair. Sure they've gone up, but everything has. Pros: Large selection, lots of variety Cons: Busy more

Hipsters are destructive 4/30/2007

Once upon a time, Buffalo Exchange was an excellent place to go for both new and used clothing. Pros: well organized and always entertaining but you really must be someone who loves to shop Cons: parking, hipsters more

Items are just okay... 7/9/2006

quite crowded depending on which days you go, try the middle of the week in the afternoon for the best customer service where you get more attention. Be careful when picking clothes. I dug through all the racks, even the ones not in my size, to find a shirt from American Eagle for 10 bucks. It was the only article I liked and was of very high quality (compared to the others anyway). A majority of the clothes are not for my taste either because of the style, or the stains and quality. Otherwise, if you're into vintage and strange clothes or on a tight budget, give this place a try. Pros: Racks are organized, has fitting rooms Cons: parking more

Overpriced. 12/27/2005

It seems to me that the Burnside Buffalo has cheaper clothing. But then when I visit this one, most iteams seem overpriced and I can never seem to find much that I like. Oh well. I'll stick to Burnside. more

My favorite clothing store! 8/22/2005

I'm a Buffalo Exchange junkie. The selection is consistently solid, and the clothing is much higher quality than one might find at other secondhand stores. I've often found real gems here, and the staff is always courteous, friendly, and customer service-oriented. As a clothing seller, I initially was ""insulted"" that the buyers took so few of my clothes, but I eventually realized that their selectivity was the very reason I love shopping there. My purchases are consistently stylish and in good shape, and they never smell like the bottom of someone's hamper. I think the buyers are as polite as possible when sifting through items you might think are treasures but really wouldn't sell worth beans. (It IS a business after all!) I've also found that I hold onto clothes from Buffalo Exchange far longer than I do clothes from other places, so it's a great value overall. Pros: Clean, well-lit., Great selection, Great staff! more

A PLACE IN HEAVEN! 3/25/2004

I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE THE GREAT SELECTION THAT WAS AVAILBLE, NOT TO MENTION THEY ALSO HAD CLOTHING FOR MEN AS WELL. I FOUND A PAIR OF NEARLY NEW 7 JEANS FOR ONLY $26. THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT IS THE AMOUNT OF TRY-ON ROOMS AND THE WAIT, MAKES YOU SWEAT THE METER SITUATION FOR PARKING... Pros: GOOD QUALITY, BRAND NAMES, VALUE Cons: , CROWDED, TURNOVER more

Rustic AND Profound? 12/9/2002

Their selection of used or ""vintage"" clothing is diverse and underpriced for the most part. You could probably find something you'd adore for less than you'd expect to pay...Nice feature eh? On more than one occasion I have attempted to purchase an item only to have a staff member tell me that there is another item just like the one I have, only priced slightly less...and then they retrieve it for me!!! Great place!! Pros: Great selection, Underpriced items Cons: Parking more

Toast! 11/11/2002

For the most part, I adore Buffalo Exchange. I found these shoes which were exactly what I wanted, and they were fairly inexpensive. ($17) They have wonderful selections! However, I would say that their customer service is sub-par. Particularly the new one. The first time I went there, they were downright rude to me. Pros: Value more

If you don't know now you know!!!!!! 9/4/2002
