CARING HOSPITAL AND LOVEABLE VETS 5/21/2007

It has always been so inviting to me and my dog. The vets are understanding and always wanting to do the best for my pet. They have always wanted to do the least vaccines for how active my pet is. The doctors bend over backwards to chat with me on anything I am worried about. And always call me back to check up on my pet after surgery or vaccines to make sure he is ok. The reception will always try their hardest to get me and my pet in asap. The techs are very knowledgeable and loving. Pros: family atmosphere, incredible skilled Cons: can't walk boarded animals, due to not having areas to walk them more

Mixed Review 4/9/2007

I have mixed reviews of Buena Animal Hospital. The first time Dr. Bernard saw my dog was for a health certificate to take my dog out of the country. I thought Dr. Bernard was nice. She was very talkative but a little overbearing for my tastes. She wanted to get some tests done and I thought they were not necessary and declined them. The next time I made an appointment I asked to see one of the other doctors...Dr. Jan or Dr. Jill. I needed help removing some foxtails and other plant matter. I asked for them because they seemed to listen better and were better at putting me and my dog at ease. That day Dr. Jan was in a hurry to leave for a vacation and didn't get everything out of my dogs paws so I had to come back and see Dr. Bernard. Dr. Bernard did a thorough job of cleaning out my dogs feet of the irritating plant matter and foxtails. She seems very caring but she did leave my dog's feet overly cut up and in bandages for almost a week. Although the cuts have since healed my dog still seems to have some lasting sensation there because he licks his feet a lot. This clinic is clean and the people are nice and you're going to pay for it. Every appointment I've had at this clinic has at least cost me $150.00 and usually much more. I've had my dog neutered there and some of the stiches didn't hold up from the start, so he had to wear a cone a lot longer than other dogs and take medication to prevent infection. This clinic has been good about clearing up a couple of ear infections and scooting problems but hasn't been that great at removing foxtails from my curly haired dog or with my dog's neutering. Pros: great location, smells and looks clean, nice people Cons: i've rarely had a problem resolved with one visit more

Do NOT take your animals here! 3/31/2007

We brought our 12 week old Weim. in to have his vaccinations. The vet wanted to give him something other than what the breeder specified, and said ""Oh no, I have something much better"". Turns out she didn't know what she was talking about. Unfortunately, we took her word for it. Two days later he didn't want to move, drink or eat. He was throwing up and deficating bright breen and clear goo, and didn't even look up when we came into the room. We brought him back, but they said he was ""normal"". Two days later, no change. We brought him back, the receptionist was dismissive, and they almost sent us home without doing anything. They did some blo od work which came back almost ""normal"" and did a few small things as a guess, without knowing whats actually wrong. ""Call monday if he doesn't get better"". So, at witts end, we called the breeder. He was FURIOUS. The vaccinations poisoned our dog. The vet didn't know that some breeds can't be given the combination of vaccines she gave our puppy. Now our puppy can't walk without falling over, and may be in pain for months, and possibly not develop correctly. Pros: One of the office members was calm and curtious Cons: The vet tech was dismissive, and the Vet herself poisoned our puppy more
