Editorial review from Citysearch 1/9/2013

Do not go to Brownlee Jewelers to sell your gold. The store owner refused to help my husband today when he went to sell some of my gold jewelry. He was extremely disrespectful and fortunately there are MANY sites on the internet where we can provide feedback regarding his experience today. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. THE OWNER IS A MEAN MEAN MAN. more

Brownlee Jewelers Disappoints 12/6/2010

I had 4 moderately priced watches in need of new batteries. I carried to watches to Brownlee Jewelers on Park Road in early November. I was a bit apprehensive when my receipt was given to me on a piece of scrap paper. I was told that they were out of their preprinted docs, but assured my watches were safe. The clerk did not list a description of each watch, only placed them in a zip lock bag together. I asked her to please note at least the fact that I gave her 4 watches. I was told that I would be called as soon as the watches were ready. 3 weeks went by without a call. I called the store and asked for status of the work. Without even asking my name, I was told that all the watches were ready. Upon arrival at the store, all of my watches were ready and I was charged a fair price of $8.95 per watch. I noticed that all of the watches had different times on them, but waited until I got home to inspect more closely. Some of the watches had scratches on the back where the battery cover had been removed. All of the watches need to have the day/date/time particulars set. One watch (without a second hand) never moved from the newly set time. I made several checks of the stem, etc. but found the watch to be dead. I made another trip to the store to tell them that the watch that I had just picked up a few days earlier was not working. Without offering an inspection, I was told that the watch would have to be sent downtown for repair. I asked for a least the courtesy of an inspection of the battery to make sure it was fully charged and was seated properly seated. After a quick look, I was brusquely told that the watch would have to be sent downtown, with a minimum charge of $69.95 and it would take 4 - 6 weeks until return. I politely and quietly left the store, and do not plan to return. Instead of spending money on some insane television commercials perhaps some of the budget should go to quality customer service training. more
