We have been making use of this company for years and have had consistently good luck. Betsy and her cleaners are conscientious, reliable and dedicated. They consistently do a lovely job, they clearly care about what they do, and they are very flexible -- I have had to cancel at the last minute several times and Betsy never complains. By contrast, they never cancel on me! Their prices are fair and their service is excellent. more

This is the owner of Broom Hilda's in Ithaca. This is in response to a false accusation in a review made by Orange c. Of course we do refrigerators and it's a serious insult to my staff to accuse them of stealing. No such request to do fridge nor something missing has been reported! Hiding behind an internet ""review"" is pathetic. I need to find a way to find out who you are, why you would write this (I assume you're a competitor) , and make you stop. Luckily, most people won't believe such nonsense. more

I would recommend Broom Hilda's House Cleaning as I have been using this company for years. The owner, Betsy, also reminds me when it is time for the yearly chimney cleaning. more

We recently moved to Ithaca this last year and got to a point with three kids that we needed a house cleaner. We found Broom Hilda House Cleaning on line and had them come for an estimate. Betsy Cleveland the owner of the business came and was just awesome! Friendly, thorough in her evaluation of our needs and reasonable with rates. We have been using them now for close to a year and couldn't be happier. I would recommend Broom Hilda to anyone needing house cleaning services and they cleaned out chimney this last fall too. Great people and great service! more

For years I've used Broom Hilda's to clean my house before my children come home for the holidays. I usually remember to call and book my appointment early on in the season but this year due to a personal crisis it completely slipped my mind. Broom Hilda's was very accommodating and was able to get my house spotless in time for my kids to arrive home...not that they didn't mess it up before our big family holiday gathering...but Broom Hilda's was great and I really appreciate their flexibility and wonderful service over the years! more

I've used Broom Hilda to clean my windows for more than 5 years. I've been very happy with the service. The crew arrives on schedule, and they are efficient, polite and unobtrusive. Definitely worth it to get windows that sparkle! more

Those reading these reviews should be forewarned that the only positive reviews have been written by the company's employees or the owner herself. I received the worst service imaginable from broom hildas awhile ago. I felt compelled to write because recently, a couple of my coworkers went through the same experience. Simply put, the cleaners do not clean, do not act like the kind of people you would trust in your house, and the service is ridiculously expensive. Given that Ithaca is such a small region, the company should be aware that word gets around...it is difficult to get through one month on the ""rants and raves"" section of craigslist without seeing another local who was scammed by this operation. Maybe instead of spending time countering the highly accurate negative reviews of this service, the owner could actually bite the bullet and focus on improving her service and hiring credible employees before it's too late. more

PLEASE do yourself a favor and believe the bad reviews. when the cleaners came, as far as i could tell, the only thing they did was scrub the kitchen sink and one bathtub. they were supposed to fully clean the fridge and cabinets and didn't touch them. and then they charged me a fortune! when i told the owner that they didn't clean the fridge and cabinets and that the price should be lower, she said, oh, it's still that amount because the rest of the house was so dusty. SCAM!!! on top of that, an item was stolen from my home. the worst!!!! Stay away! more

I am an out of state owner of a house in Ithaca and the owner of Broom Hilda's was aware of this. I was trying to sell the house. There was one renter in it. The real estate agent kept telling me the house was dirty. I spoke to the resident, to no avail; so I hired Broom Hilda's and paid a good price for services. 3 times and I was still having a problem. I thought the real estate agent was just being overly critical because she couldn't seem to get the house sold. I went up there and happened to be present when the cleaning crew was there - to their surprise. They were standing around smoking. The windows that I had paid to have done 2 weeks prior were dirty and had cobwebs. When I mentioned this, the worker made a disparaging remark about the ""other"" crew that handles that. The floor in the kitchen was sticky, even after the woman supposedly cleaned it. As were the counter tops. She made a comment that she did not have the proper cleaning compound to clean it so that was that. I called the owner and got a response the next day that I should have said something. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No I'm sorry, I'll make sure they come back and do the job properly. Nothing. I went to KMART and bought cleaning supplys and did it myself. I DO NOT recommend them. more
