Very unhappy customer 4/10/2011

We made an appointment to have our car fixed on Tuesday first thing in the morning. We had made the appointment the week before. So we took it in and didn?t hear back from them until late in the afternoon that they wouldn?t be able to finish their work by then of business. They needed to keep it another day. There was no apology, no offer to get us a rental for this kind of disruption and they had to order parts which I don?t understand since we made an appointment last week. If they needed parts why didn?t they order them in anticipation of our appointment? Then on Wednesday they told us again late in the afternoon they still hadn?t finished their work. Now on Wednesday we rented a car but at this point it was too late to get a rental as most places close at 6pm so we couldn?t get one, seriously hampering our lives. We had to bother a friend to give us a ride. The car was finally done on Thursday afternoon. No apology for disrupting our lives and taking so long, no offer to reimburse us for having to rent a car. more

No Pressure...Great Service! 2/1/2011

Bridgetown Automotive has been servicing my vehicles for about 2 years now. I have had multiple issues from a new transmission, to oil changes every 3 months of 3,000 miles, new brakes last week, and repair of some electrical issues with my truck. I hate hearing when they find something wrong because I know it is going to hit my pocket book. The thing I appreciate the most at Bridgtown is I have never been pushed into some ""random"" added service like you might get from other money-hungry automotive places, or chain type businesses like the Jiffylube experience. I use to feel like I got more lube on me that in my vehicle when going to those other types of places. These guys are straight with you every time. I'll be back for an oil change on my next vehicle in the next week or 2. more

Portland's Best Car Care 11/10/2010

This place totally rocks!! Nobody likes taking their car to the shop and I am no different. After my car was broken into, and several failed attempts @ having friends repair it, I finally decided to take my car in to have the headlight switch replaced. more

Very nice 10/6/2010

We got their name through America's Tire. We had purchased new wheels and one of the wheel bolts wouldn't go back in because of rust. They got us right in the day we called, fixed the problem and didn't even charge us. They were very courteous. A great example of a neighborhood business. We will definitely return. more

Quality, honest, knowledgeable shop - great service 9/16/2010

Top quality service, really helpful and thorough. Very knowledgeable staff. Typically quick turn-around on most jobs. They don't try to upsell or push repairs that may not be necessary. Very good giving balanced input and letting you decide. Discounts for first time and returning customers. I highly recommend this shop! more

Consistent Courtesy 9/5/2010

It's almost embarrassing to have brought in three punctures in two years, without buying so much as a candy bar from their snack machine, but that's been our case. Still, each time, they've fixed the problem at no charge (!?!) and we've been received as warmly as if we'd bought a full set of their most expensive tires. And even though they've been busy, they've gotten to us right away. Since they refused even token payment, I thought this might make for a partial Thank You. more

Broke my car and taking no responsibility 6/1/2010

I've been a customer of Bridgetown Auto here in Sellwood for many years, but must now WARN anyone that they've gone downhill hard, and should NOT BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR VEHICLE. To make a long story short, I had some very expensive engine repairs done, and the car was returned to me with some major other damages. They denied, hemmed and hawed, and finally let me know that they didn't really care, and weren't going to do anything further to rectify the situation. For me this means going to dealership, diagnosing and finding cause of problem, then probably small claims court and Better Business Bureau in some effort to get reimbursed for the effects of their careless work. Save yourself the hassle. Go anyplace else. more

Happy 4/7/2010

I have been taking my car and my daughters car to this shop for several years. They are friendly and easy to work with. The repairs have always been reasonably priced and completed in a timely manner. I once took my car in thinking it was a major repair. It turned out to be something very minor and inexpensive. I love that kind of honesty. more

Friendly Automotive Service 2/20/2010

I took my car in to Bridgetown Automotive about a month ago after Tom Dwyer would not take it because it is a salvage title. They owner came out and talked to me directly and explained everything that needed to be done and what it would mean to me price wise. He worked with me to fix only the things that were dire and make a plan to fix more later. Very good service and reasonable prices. more

Highly recommended! 12/2/2009

I took my car in for the ""winter special"" - tire rotation, brake inspection, oil change, and consultation on any problems you're having. Bridgetown found two major problems: one with my brakes, and one causing a different problem I was having with the car. The person I spoke with was very friendly and explained the problem and solution in terms I could understand. But more importantly, I felt comfortable with Bridgetown, rather than feeling anxiety that I was going to be taken advantage of. The peace of mind was the most valuable part to me, as someone who has limited knowledge of cars. The only drawback is that they are only open 8-5 M-F, so it can be difficult to get your car done if you need it for work. But I dropped mine off while I went home for a week for Thanksgiving and when I came back it was done, so I had an entirely hassle-free situation. I would highly recommend speaking to Bridgetown for maintenance and repairs! Pros: affordable, honest, friendly Cons: limited hours more

Professional, honest, affordable! 2/23/2009

My Toyota Sequoia needed new tires as well as a complete service. I decided to go to Bridgetown Tire & Automotive because it was highly recommended by a friend of mine. I paid a portion of what other places quoted me! The service was excellent and the staff is friendly and professional. Another bonus is that it's conveniently located in the heart of Portland. I encourage everyone out there who needs work done on their car to go to Bridgetown Tire & Automotive. Bridgetown has definitely earned my business! more

Few things are as valuable as a good mechanic 10/27/2008

I followed the mechanics here from Northwest Car Care when it shut down, so I've been taking my car to them for several years. A couple of the repairs that I've gotten were questionable (back from the Northwest Car care days) but I have a very old car that needs a lot of TLC, so that's just a drop in the bucket from the many, many times my car has been in during its restoration. What really makes me appreciate these guys is that in my many misguided attempts to find I new mechanic (because Bridgetown is pretty far from my house), they have saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. Every time I've gone somewhere else for a major repair I've gotten quoted enough to make my head spin. Then I take it back to Bridgetown for a second opinion and they fix whatever's wrong for maybe a couple hundred bucks. They're honest, competent, and reliable. You really can't ask for much more than that! Pros: Quality diagnosis and repair Cons: Repairs often take a few days more

I have had nothing but honest,straight forward dealings with Bridgetown Automotive from the beginning when my son recommended them. I tend to feel vulnerable when getting my car checked or worked on because I am a woman and know nothing about car problems. But Chris and the folks there treat everyone the same...no bogus repairs. Just the truth about your car and a fair price. They also have been good enough to check out a few cars that I was considering for purchase, at no charge, and I know I avoided a few nightmares because he found problems I never could have known about and he pointed them out up on the lift so I could understand and see.They care and take the time to go the extra mile to make you happy. I recommend them to everyone. I even drive all the way from northeast because it is worth it. I was impressed by the sign on the wall that said "" What you think about , you bring about!"" That says it all. Their intention is to focus on doing the best job for you. Thanks! Pros: willingness to help, honesty more

Great Customer Service! 5/12/2008

I have been taking all my vehicles to Bridgetown Automotive for the past 4 years and have had nothing but superb service. They make it easy to do business with, the bill is always what they qoute me, never more, sometimes even less. I have also received their referral 10% discount (all my friends love Bridgetown too). They are very honest and accomodating and have even gone as far as delivering my car back to me. I won't take my cars anywhere else. more

half-assed and no clue 8/28/2007

They did less than half the work I asked them to, couldn't get parts for my car, messed up some parts on the car, and let me drive away with only 3 lug nuts on one wheel! Bad communication, don't listen, and expensive for what they did. Not going here again. Also, boss hasn't called me back as lackey said he would. Obviously they don't care about my business and don't pay attention to details, including safety issues. On the upside, they did get my car in quick. But then they couldn't get parts for it so it sat for days while parts I ordered were delivered. I found out about the missing lug nut and damaged stud when I went to get a tire, and Bridgetown had even messed up another stud, so I had to leave my car at the tire shop overnight and take the bus across town. more

Honest, reliable service 6/18/2007

I brought my Jetta in to get a check engine light diagnosed so I could get it through DEQ. It took them a little longer than expected to figure out the problem since it was a fairly uncommon one but they did figure it out and got it taken care of for a very fair price. They let me know what other issues the car had and didn't try to pressure me into having them fix them. Will definitely go to these guys in the future. more
