did you ever have to make up your mind.... 3/22/2006

the lines are long... but they move quickly, so try to make up your mind before you get too close to the front... They always have specials and things, so check them out before you get in line or you'll be caught off guard trying to read from the dry erase menu when its time to order... if you do get caught... just go with the toasttite or whatever they call it, the Grilled cheese! its delicious bread with gobs of melty cheese all toasty and marvelous. I also like the turkey sandwich; and i hear they have great salads too. more

Best sandwich in town 11/14/2005

I don't think I've ever experienced a better sandwich before. I want to go back and order everything on the menu to find out if it's all as good as the first. I had the smoked turkey sandwich - unlike other deli shops, the turkey in this sandwich was real turkey, like the kind Mom slices right off the bird at Thanksgiving. It was served hot on a roll that was both crusty on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. The sandwich was big enough that I could save half for my lunch the next day, although my male companion finished his sandwich on the spot and was looking longingly at mine, so perhaps not for the male eaters. My only complaint about Bread Line is that it's very crowded at lunch time, and a little bit pricey. I paid about $9 for a sandwich and bottled water. For a once in a while lunch (or if someone else is footing the bill), it was definitely worth it. more

oh, those sandwiches 8/24/2005

Bread Line has the best sandwiches in downtown DC, hands down. Of course you'll pay for those sandwiches, but they're worth it. Fresh, local ingredients and bread made on-premises makes all the difference in the world. And don't forget to order those sinfully good French fries! They're worth every sit-up you have to do. The lines are long but it's worth the wait. more
