Brasserie? 10/22/2010

Is this restaurant serious? How can they call themselves a brasserie? If Olive Garden did a brasserie this is probably what they would come up with. My wife and I were in town for business from Missouri. Being former New Yorkers we were excited to see a brasserie in Providence. \r \r We started at the bar and asked the bartender if he had a good bordeaux by the glass and returned with two glasses of red wine. We thanked the young man and sipped the wine. It tasted a bit off but the man was busy and we didn't say anything.\r \r Upon arriving at our table we looked through a wine list and realized they did not have a bordeaux by the glass(when we received our check later on we found out we were served Gnarly Head Zinfandel). \r \r The food was edible at best. The warm baguette was good but our starters were terrible. The mussels were old and the grilled pizza was from a frozen crust. For entrees the seared scallops had zero color on the outside(not very difficult to sear a scallop) and raw on the inside and were served with luke warm mashed potatoes. I was going to order the veal milanese but the sound of parpadelle with cheese sauce that came as a side turned my stomach. I had the Atlantic Cod which was light and refreshing. Memo to new management from the previous review(actually sounds like the reviewer is the new management): go to a real brasserie and see what it's like. You don't have to travel all the way to France; Boston and New York have plenty that will get you on the right track. After doing this then maybe you can call yourself a brasserie. more

New Management 3/21/2009

Bravo Brasserie has been under new management since around July of 2008. They have done an excellent job. Their food is priced reasonable and is now very consistent. I used to call for reservations and found it very difficult. They have discarded the answering machine .....thank godness. It seems as though they are on the right track. My wife and I have been there recently on more than one occasion and found the atmosphere to be great, very NY stylish. The service has been very accomindating and friendly and the food has been great. Pros: Great Place Cons: Still looking more

Not acheiving the goal 6/9/2007

Bravo has the atmosphere and look of a trendy happening brasserie. However, the service and the food fall flat. While there, I feel as though I could be in NYC. There's a lot of activity, buzz of conversation and a relaxing atmosphere. The service has been spotty. Sometimes we are served by a fabulous young man. Other times our server has been rude and curt and slow. The food has been consistently bad. I ordered braised lamb that was extremely tough and mussels which were not fresh that I couldn't eat. I'm not sure how they are doing, or what attribute of their ""brasserie"" they are banking on pulling in customers. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food, sometimes service more
