My husband, son and I always want to find the "local" atmosphere when we visit a city for a horse show. Searching the reviews about local restaurants in Aiken, we decided to go down to Laurens street and see the many restaurants that were listed and decide on one. We liked the atmosphere of the Bowery, sat at the bar and had a cocktail, (great pinot grigio), looked at the menu and decided to stay because the menu sounded great. Unfortunately the chef at this restaurant is either too busy OR just does not know how to cook. I only say this because the ingredients were all there that were listed on the menu and COULD have been delicious. I had the Chicken Olivia, dry chicken breast with some sort of sauce,it was yellow and dried onto the overly crusted tasteless chicken. Over cooked zucchini mixed vegetables, soggy, tasteless, served with fried lobster bites (that I adore in Florida) but were, cold, over breaded and not sure what was inside them.
