The food at Bourbon is quite good, but the service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I've taken my family here over a dozen times since it opened two years ago, but the service tonight was downright insulting. Our server was OK -- not particularly friendly or helpful, but not bad either. We've been here a dozen times since it opened and always loved the service and food. Tonight, however, the service was very sketchy (the manager answered phone calls while seating us) and a gratuity was silently added to our cheque in spite of our party having 5 people, and not 6 as the menu disclosed. The manager said that it had been the server's error and would be corrected (he answered the phone again while addressing our issue). The server, however, said that the manager had made her do it. At no point did we intend to tip less than 20% in spite of the lukewarm service and one undercooked seafood dish. Having that choice made for us, and silently, is entirely inappropriate. We won't be going back here again, just because of the way in which the situation was handled. The owners of Bourbon should be more vigilant about giving their managers the power to charge their customers indiscriminately.
Pros: good food
Cons: insulting service
