Amy and I have been to Bond Street in Manhattan and loved it. We decided to give the one in South Beach a chance.
The restaurant is hard to find - you've got to track up to 20th Street on Collins - all the way at the end of the South Beach strip. You take a right on 20th and then duck into the first building and go down the stairs to the basement. The restaurant is dark - just like the NY one - but colorful (blue / orange / yellow walls).
We showed up at 7pm - unfashionably early. We were the only people in the restaurant and got quick service. We ended up with a table in the back in some hugely comfortably chairs.
The food - like the NY Bond Street - was superb. It was very similar - standard sushi surrounded by some funky stuff, a good selection of spicy / creative Japanese appetizers (hot and cold), and a nice drink menu.
Excellent service, great food, hip scene. By the time we left, the place was filling up nicely.
