Good Indian Cuisine 4/11/2009

Bombay Grille offers good Indian food with a nice atmosphere. Among restaurants in Charlotte, this is probably the best of the Indian restaurants around. Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandori Chicken, and Palak Paneer were all very good. We will definitely go back. Pros: Good food; Nice Atmosphere; Kingfisher Beer Cons: Menu was a bit confusing more

I love this restaurant! 3/3/2009

I am a big fan of Indian food and have been to Indian restaurants in a variety of American cities. I've eaten at Bombay Grille about 6 times and have found this restaurant to be outstanding each time. I agree with others that the prices are a little high -- and I wish they offered a sort of sampler plate on the menu -- but the service has always been exceptional and the food has always been great. I'm surprised to read otherwise, since I've never had a problem there. I have eaten from the buffet twice and agree that it's not as interesting or flavorful as ordering from the menu, but I suspect that's because they're cooking for a variety of tastes. (I think that's the way it is with all buffets -- from Chinese to Golden Corral.) When ordering from the menu, we specified the spiciness of our entrees, which is a nice feature. Pros: I like everything about this place. Cons: no sampler plate; the buffet is tuned to general tastes more

Sub-par Food 7/5/2008

I read a review that this place is supposed to be better than Jaipur. Got to be kidding. I went on a Saturday and was told that no ala-carte. Just buffet. The selection is pathetic and the food, curry, masala are all bland and not spicy. The food are placed right outside the bathrooms... I am from Asia and this is bad Indian food. Jaipur, Woodlands, Maharani are all much better. more

it's an Average Indian place! 8/30/2007

I go out twice a week n chk out dofferent resturants. Being an Indian I know Indian Food very very well. I went there twice for luch and dinner. the place is ok but the Lunch buffet was really bland, didnt like the quality of food @ all. another time a firend of mine forced me n take there for dinner, which was all right far better than my first expirence. the service was all right! But This isnt one of the place where i would always want to go! more

A real treat! 5/1/2007

Bombay Grille is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is teriffic--better than any of the other traditional northern Indian restaurants that I've tried in various cities (this is the only one I've tried in Charlotte so far). While the dishes can be pricey, they are delicious. The tikka masala is creamy and tangy and the chicken is perfectly tender, like tandoori chicken should be. The lamb korma is delicious as well. Besides the food being excellent, the service at Bombay Grille is OUTSTANDING! Every server we've had has been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in his suggestions. Patient, friendly, gracious, charming... I could go on and on. Every time we've been, there have been several Indian families/couples dining there as well, which I perceive as a good indication of the menu's authenticity and the quality of the food. The only possible complaint I could have with Bombay Grille is that it is rather expensive compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to, but as I said before, this certainly is the best one I've been to yet. Pros: Service, food, parking Cons: Expensive more

Wonderful atmosphere and aroma's 12/29/2006

I LOVED this place. I am a vegetarian but my husband and 2 year old daughter are not. The staff are lovely and the food is GORGEOUS!!! We went to the buffet and it was awesome. I have craved the food since. I am from England and we have the best Indian food outside India. Plus we lived in NYC which has great Indian restaurants and I found this place to be great. Pros: Everything Cons: none found more

Consistently the best Indian restaurant in Charlotte (Veg-friendly!) 10/2/2006

A few years ago, I wouldnt eat at this place for anything. However this past year, I went with some friends who had already picked this place out and I dont know what's changed, but this place has been nothing short of amazing ever since. The selection is great for vegetarians alike, and the samosas are the best I've ever had, perfect flaky and fresh seasoned potatoes inside...wow! Wait staff is super friendly everytime and always eager to make suggestions depending on what you're in the mood for. Its the only Indian restaurant I choose to go to now. Pros: consistent, great service, vegetarian friendly Cons: can be costly as prices add up when adding an appetizer and bread more

Best Indian Non-Vegiterian Restaurant 8/22/2006

Its best test in all Non-Vegiterian Restaurant But it cost more than other restaurant and less quantity. Some times they treat american people better then indian because they give more tips. more

  • The Scene
A bland strip mall location conceals this understated, yet elegant space. Simple tapestries and murals that pepper the walls, combined with the aroma of exotic spices and sound of Indian music in the background, add to the dining experience. Service is patient, knowledgeable and seamless.

    The Food
Specializing in Northern Indian cuisine and tandoori (clay oven) cooking, the menu includes seafood, lamb, and vegetarian selections. Servers start diners off with pappadam (Indian flat bread) and a trio of tasty chutneys. Starters range from the tandoori salad, a sizzling mix of smoky vegetables, sweet pineapple, and cheese to the seekh kabab, minced lamb deftly seasoned with mint, onion, garlic and cilantro. Standout entrees include palak paneer, a creamy spinach mixture best scooped up with a piece of garlic nan. Lamb korma offers chunks of tender meat in a creamy gravy of yogurt, ground almonds and cashews. Homemade pistachio ice cream provides a delicate finale to a heady meal.
