Good Happy Hour Food and Prices 3/9/2010

Bodega isn't too shabby. I came here with a friend for happy hour. Their happy hour runs from 4-7pm and all night on Mondays. The HH wine is $5 a glass, $15 carafes, and $21 a bottle. You get to choose from a list that offers about 12 white and 12 red wines. The regular wine prices are $8 a glass, $21 a carafe & $32 a bottle. We tried about 5 different wines, some better than others. If you are a wine snob, this might not be the place for you. I am a bit of a wine snob, but happy hour prices squash any snobbery. : ) For HH food, we went with the Pepperoni and Cheese plate ($4) and the Margherita Pizza ($7). The pizza was made of a thick bread dough and was quite good. The pepperoni was good, but I would have preferred a different cheese. It was a long block of cheddar, but is a great deal at only $4. The waitress was the only down side of the evening. She literally walked by our table about 5 times with our glasses empty and she didn't ask if we wanted anything else. We had to flag her down. Bad service on her part, but I would still return. As for the place itself, I liked the layout of it. Half the place had tall community tables and the other half had more of a lounge feel. Good to know: This place is walking distance from the Metro Gold Line! woohoo!! Pros: HH food, near metro, good date place Cons: Service more

I went their last night and the place was small and cozy. Good atmosphere, service was good, wine was good. I complaints. more

Good wine for cheap 3/5/2009

I went on a Wednesday night, so the Wine was discounted to almost half price per bottle. The music was good, but later on they started playing hardcore rap, so the gangster-type dudes started dancing and the chicks bailed. \r \r This place is a singles spot / pick-up joint, so go with a good wing man/woman. \r \r Also, it has all kinds of seating to fit the mood. Pros: cheap wine, lots of singles Cons: sometimes music gets too hardcore more

Avoid -- terrible wines 5/1/2008

This place is highly overrated. Anyone who knows anything about wine would not like Bodega. VERY disappointing. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Lame 3/27/2008

If you like decent wine and good food then skip this place. It is overpriced and the wine selection is less than impressive. Coke mixed with wine?? Enough said. Pros: Easy parking Cons: Everything inside the bar more

great during the week 10/26/2007

I usually don't go out during the week because I have to wake up for work at dawn, but this place is great on sunday and monday nights. There aren't many places that are happening on those nights, but Bodega is an exception. The music is great, and so is the wine selection as well as specialty soju cocktails. Keep in mind, this is a beer and wine establishment. Head downstairs to the Yard House if you're looking for liquor. more

scene overwhelms 8/8/2007

i had heard and read great things about Bodega, so i was highly disappointed when i finally went with a group of friends. while i do like the concept, in reality the wine was mediocre, the service average and the crowd was a swarming and smarmy singles scene (albeit young and attractive). if you like wine and actually want to hold a conversation with the person you came with rather than ten others trying to pick you up, then bodega is not for you. more

Great Place to Unwind 7/19/2007

Bodega is one of my favorite places to go in Pasadena. The wine selections are great and represent a wide array of regions and flavors. The food is very good as well. They make a brie grilled cheese, and a tuna panini. The pizzas are really good too, thin crust and plenty of cheese and whatever else you order.\r \r Check it out!! Pros: Great affordable wines and food Cons: Very trendy crowd at times more

Relax and Enjoy 2/25/2007

Don't be in a hurry when you head to Bodega in Pasadena. I dig this spot for their various happy hours (4-7 PM specials include cheap wine and cheap appetizers) with some friends, but expect it to be busy. It's pretty small, so you'll probably be surprised when your waitress seems to disappear for about an hour before she comes back to your table. Ive had to get up to go to the bar before happy hour ends several times (and when I do the waitress comes back and looks at me with a sort of vacant ""Where'd you get THAT glass of wine?"" look in her eyes). But the wine list is fab, if small (I recommend the semillion on a warm summer night). Food is always good enough for a light snack to pair with your wine, and the atmosphere is hip and inviting...which is why it's so hard to find a seat on the small patio! Ultimately, when you finally are able to steal enough chairs from another table for all your friends to sit down, after you've eaten a margherita pizza and an order of bruschetta, and after your second bottle of wine, you'll be relaxed enough to forgive your poor, lost waitress. Pros: hip, hip, hip Cons: where'd my waitress go? more

Really cool bar 11/22/2006

I was introduced to this place on a date once and it was really cool! Thankfully they have food too. I ordered the pita with hummus and it was pretty good. Their wine selection is great and made for interesting table conversation. I'd definitely come back! more

Friendly Service 9/17/2006

I can't say enough about the atmosphere and service. The hot, hot, hot bartenders are more than happy to take good care of you and your needs. The loungy inside and refreshing patio make for a great place to relax after work or snuggle with a date on weekends. Though I am not a wine snob I do find the wine selection sophomoric. The wine list is limited and not at all special for a place that touts itself as a wine bar. I enjoy Bodega for a relaxing evening but for a truly special evening I go elsewhere. Pros: great service, atmosphere, close to other options Cons: average wine list more

Worst customer service !!! 9/16/2006

You had to practically jump up and down to get a bartender to get you a drink, but I did found it to be a good mix of people of all ages and types. will not go back more

Cool Wine Bar 6/17/2006

I love this place...its cool to hang out with close friends with a lot of wine selections...love staying at the patio and there's one room inside where you could get cozy with your date. Attentive waitresses and good-looking bartenders. Pros: good selection wine, patio, music Cons: more selction foods more

Fun! 5/30/2006

I LOVED this bar! It's totally cute and fun. The food although the selection is small is very very good. We had the best pizza and hummus. The service is Amazing, the cute waiter Albert will take care of you. I can't wait to go back.. would be FUN for a large group. Pros: Food, Cute Bartenders Cons: Crowded, Small Menu more

Cool local hangout 1/29/2006

This is the only bar in Pasadena that I would recommend highly. Comfortable place to hang out with your friends and the music is cool. more

this place is not for everyone... 11/18/2005

this place is not for everyone...and that i what i love about it. i like that i can get a glass of wine for just 8 bucks. and i like that the wine list is short. they find a few good wines, and i don't have to spend 20 minutes sorting through a list. i like that they serve it european style, not in a traditional wine glass. i definitely like the music. especially the dj on mondays. the staff is great. i like the modern design of the place, and i like that it's a casual atmosphere. when i want something more fancy, i go somewhere else. this place is my hangout lounge where i can just chill, for as long as i want. i'm comfortable there. and if i don't want to battle a crowd, i don't go on weekends. but sometimes i do anyway. Pros: wine, atmosphere, music more

User review by olivetofu 9/22/2005

I went there with a large group of friends while we waited for PF Chang's. Although the atmosphere was relaxed and laidback, it was created by the customers rather than the staff. The staff was a bit stiff and unaccomodating...perhaps because we were a rather large group. The wine list I was presented with seemed short (a laminated half-sheet) and the menu is even shorter. The food is minimal and the wine that I did try was quite good despite it being a random choice. Their wine glass really irked me though. I like enjoying wine from a wine glass...perhaps it's a comfort of mine. If it doesn't bother you, then Bodega is definitely a nice place to just relax because of its minimalistic decor and convenience but isolated location. Pros: location, good recommendations, relaxed Cons: stiff staff, wine "glasses", small menu more
