Enjoyable Twice 10/7/2009

I took my two sisters and brother in law to the blue willow for a lunch. We had the best food and the servers were so friendly. The atmosphere was homey.\r It was so good, that when my brother came to town from Ohio, I took him, my sister in law and wife there. They were so happy to sit in the Lewis Grizzard Room, and have the location of the foods and history of the restaurant told to us by the waitress. It was a great experience that I got to enjoy twice in less than a month. Pros: The best fried chicken I have had in a long time more

WOW!!! Best Buffett Ever!!!!! 6/21/2008

I recently visited the Blue Willow Inn, and it was the best southern cooked food I have tasted in a very long time. From the fried green tomatoes to the macaroni and cheese, which was the best macaroni made to man. I really enjoyed my time there. I will tell anybody I come in contact with, about this Southern Style buffet, its just incredible. They also have a singing employee that sings happy Birthday to you if its yours, but that's just a little added treat, he is pretty good. Everything about the Blue Willow was absolutely terrific, I believe its worth every penny, it met every single expectation that i thought it would. more

Yuck to Blue Willow Inn Restaurant, GA 1/10/2008

Took nine family and friends to Blue Willow Inn for dinner just before Christmas. This was the most disappointing meal ever.\r \r Had reservations. Waited 20 minutes for them to seat us at 2 different tables!\r \r Salad bar was plain iceberg lettuce with a couple of toppings. The warm food was exactly that, dried out, over cooked and warm. Looked like it had sat all day. Mashed potatoes were like mortar, meat tough. Looked like the food sat out all day unattended.\r \r Clientel consists of no teeth, canes and walkers. You'll be the youngest!\r \r Not worth the money at all! more

A GREAT SUNDAY AFTERNOON TREK... 11/2/2007

It is a nice drive to Social Circle from most parts of Atlanta, but you will find it is well worth the trip. Social Circle is a quaint little Rural Town that is a throwback to earlier times. The Blue Willow Inn is a PERFECT example og going back to a slower easier time. The White Columns and the anti-bellium features take you back to the old south and a rural farm home! The food lives up to the expectations that are set by the decor. While waiting to be seated you are greeted by young ladies in Hoop Skirts serving lemonade! What a TREAT... The buffet and the different seating rooms are as diverse as the clientele! The fried chicken and the macaroni and cheese are as good as any you will find anywhere in the South. I can only remember my Mom's as being as GOOD! Eat until you can't move but PLEASE leave some room for the Paenut Butter Pie! We always try to sit in the Lewis Grizzard Room and enjoy the view of the old swimming pool (now a fountain) and take a few minutes to stroll among the Oak trees on the grounds after the meal. A visit to the Gift Shop is a must as well... Take the time, don't rush asnd enjoy the Hour long drive.... THE BLUE WILLOW INN IS WORTH THE DRIVE. Pros: The Best Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese and Comfort Cooking anywhere around! Cons: LONG DRIVE...... but worth it. Take your time. more

Traditional Southern Buffet In Restored Mansion! Fried Chicken, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Peanut Butter Pie! 4/29/2007

Just a short 45min. drive outside Atlanta, on the way to Augusta, is Social Circle, GA. And this is one small town Sherman missed. This is such a casual laid-back little town, chock full of large Gone With The Wind era mansions. And the Blue Willow Inn, is one of our favorite places to dine on Southern Homestyle Cookin! The home has been beautifully restored. We always request seating in the Lewis Grizzard Room, with Bulldog artifacts, so dear to the late AJC columnist. Grab our plates, and on to the buffet, Fried Chicken, Chicken Livers, Roast Beef, and the bounty of Southern style prepared veggies-Collards, Fried Green Tomatoes, Corn, Lima Beans, and homestyle Cranberry Salad. The Peanut Butter Pie is not to be missed. Another glass of sweet tea, please. Pros: Traditional Southern Buffet! Beautiful Southern Mansion! Cons: It's A Forty-Five Minute Drive From The City! more

For turn of the century southern excitement! 9/14/2005

Housed in a turn of the century Greek mansion, Blue Willow features elegant southern buffet, with a variety of meats and vegetables. Also available for private catered functions and has several meeting rooms available. Out front, a greeter in a long dress cheerily greets their customers in the fashion of years gone by. The owners set up a college scholarship fund in the memory of their son, who died in an automobile accident. Southern Living magazine has also featured the Blue Willow. more
